Cabinet approves Command Livestock programme

Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development Minister Joseph Made announced that cabinet has approved the Command Livestock programme that is expected to run for three to five years.

Made said that Government will not dictate which livestock farmers should keep and said that while the programme is open to everyone A2 farmers in Matabeleland South, Matabeleland North, parts of Masvingo, Manicaland and Mashonaland provinces will anchor the programme. He also revealed that Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko will be working to resuscitate the Cold Storage Commission (CSC) with China, Russia and India expected to come on board. Made also said Government will not accept funding which is above four percent interest.
