Red Cross constructs 16km-long water pipeline in Siyachilaba area, Binga

The Zimbabwe Red Cross Society  (ZRCS) constructed a 16km-long water pipeline to draw water from Zambezi River to Siyachilaba area, Binga, in Matabeleland North province. ZRCS also built 634 toilets and drilled 41 boreholes under a project known as Building Resilient African Communities (BRACES).

In a speech read on his behalf by his deputy Reuben Mnkandla, ZRCS president Edison Mlambo said the project was done in 5 years with financial support from the America Red Cross. Speaking at the same event, Matabeleland North Provincial Affairs minister Cain Mathema acknowledged that Binga faced waterborne disease problems due to lack of access to safe drinking water.
