On Thursday, South Africa suspended trade ion chickens and poultry products from Zimbabwe. This follows the outbreak of highly pathogenic H5N8 bird flu at Irvine’s. The company had to kill 140 000 birds due to the outbreak.

The South Africa Department of Agriculture said in a statement:

We have heightened inspections of all consignments, including all private and public vehicles at all our ports of entry, especially in and out of Zimbabwe
