President Mugabe in New York for conference on oceans

President Robert Mugabe is in New York to attend the United Nations Conference on the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14, commonly known as the Oceans Conference. He was welcomed by Ambassador to the UN Frederick Shava and embassy staff at JFK Airport.

The conference which will run from June 5 to 9 will seek to reverse the decline in the state of the oceans and seas focusing on solutions-focused engagement from all stakeholders. It comprises of eight plenary sessions, seven partnership dialogues, a special event to commemorate World Oceans Day on Thursday, as well as a number of side events.
