Zifa to force Warriors to sign Indemnity Forms to prevent them from boycotting matches
The Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) is planning on making players called up for national duty to sign indemnity forms. The forms are meant to prevent those who sign them from boycotting matches or going on strike. This follows, an embarrassing incident for Zifa when Warriors players boycotted a farewell dinner where Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa was the guest of honour. The players were protesting over allowances and winning bonuses before they departed for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
The players who are reported to have led that boycott, Willard Katsande, Cuthbert Malajila, Nyasha Mushekwi and Matthew Rusike have all been dropped from the squad to play qualifiers.
According to online publication New Zimbabwe, some of the conditions on the indemnity forms read as follows:
…acceptance of Zifa’s choice of mode of payment and amount of allowances; acceptance without conditions of camping location and facilities.
Should a player not agree with any of the terms on the form they are free to go back home
