Govt says it will build 17 "world-class" schools to match its reputation

 
The government through the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has claimed that it is going to build 17 world-class institutions to match its reputation as having an “internationally acclaimed education system.” In the long term, the government is planning on building 2000 world class schools.

These schools would be built to match international standards with state-of-the-art buildings, teachers’ houses, classroom blocks, laboratories including sporting and other facilities.

In contributing to the economic development of Zimbabwe, we (education sector) have decided to improve the education system to include other skills that produce complete graduates.

We have since embarked on a curriculum review and introduced a new syllabus which specifically targets sciences, technical subjects, engineering, mathematics, creative arts and innovations.

Only last week the government announced that it was considering shutting down at least 40 schools in Matebeleland because it was no longer viable to run the schools.
