Justice Mutambanengwe's relatives unhappy that he was denied Hero Status: Mandi Chimene
Manicaland Provincial Affairs Minister Mandi Chimene has claimed that the relatives of the late retired Justice Simpson Victor Mutambanengwe were unhappy that the Zanu-PF politburo had denied him national hero status. According to Chimene, the relatives verbally abused her at Mutambabenengwe’s burial on Saturday following comments she had made.
Addressing a Zanu PF interdistrict youth meeting at Mary Mount Teachers’ College in Mutare on Sunday,m Chimene said:
Yesterday (Saturday), I went to bury someone, who was not declared a national hero. I told mourners that there might be something he did wrong, I was verbally assaulted for that.
FeedbackRetired High Court judge Justice Simpson Victor Mutambanengwe, was not declared a national hero, although he was accorded a State assisted funeral. Justice Mutambanengwe died in Namibia last week after succumbing to renal failure. He was 87. He was buried at Dambakurimwa Farm in Zimunya, Mutare.
