MSU sues former bursar and former director of works for prejudicing the institution of over $74 000

Midlands State University (MSU) is suing its former bursar Mamelo Moyo, former director for works, Melusi Moyo for conspiring with Netabelt Investments (Pvt) Limited to supply the institution with stationery and chickens at uncompetitive prices, prejudicing the higher education institution over $74 000.

In summons filed at the Bulawayo High Court on May 10, MSU demanded $372,60 from Mamelo for financial prejudice it suffered when she allowed Netabelt Investments to sell chickens at an uncompetitive price on July 9 2015 without abiding by the competitive bidding procedures. It also demanded $23 768 from Mamelo for recklessly allowing Black Brain Investments to supply stationery at incompetitive prices together with 5% interest per annum. MSU argues that it would have saved $50 232,40 if the stationery had been bought at First Pack. The defendants are yet to respond to the claim.
