Caps United lose 2-0 to Zamalek in CAF Champions League

Reigning Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions Caps United were defeated 2-0 last night by Egyptian powerhouse Zamalek in the CAF Champions League. The match was played at the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria, Egypt.

Caps United defended well in the first half, relying on counter-attacking play. They managed to hold off the Egyptians and went to the break with the tie still goalless. However, after the break, the Zimbabwean champions failed to deal with two crosses which resulted in the hosts scoring two headed goals. Keeper Edmore Sibanda, also known as “ZiKeeper,”  managed to pull of a string of superb saves in the first half only to fail to deal with the crosses from which the Egyptian side scored.

This was the opening game of Group B.
