Angry white ex-farmers are burning bond notes & causing cash crisis says Zanu-PF official
A NewZimbabwe.com correspondent who attended a Zanu-PF meeting in Marondera meant to drum up support for President Robert Mugabe’s rally at Rudhaka Stadium on 3 June reports that party officials accused former white commercial farmers of being behind the current cash shortages. Zanu-PF officials claimed the former white farmers are destroying bonds notes while externalising the US dollar.
The correspondent heard one of the government official identified as Nyoka saying:
As government, we are aware that you are failing to get cash for the tobacco that you would have delivered at the auction floors. The reason behind that is the white farmers who used to occupy this land before you are still angry. These white farmers are collecting all the bond notes in the banks and burning them so that you don’t get anything while the same people are taking the remaining US dollars to Britain so that we are left with no cash in the country.
