Mahiya apologises to Chiwenga, Mutsvangwa says we will respect and abide by Chiwenga’s words

Members of the Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans Association have said that they will respect and stand guided by Zimbabwe Defence Forces Commander General Constantino Chiwenga’s words. Two days back the General warned war veterans that were disrespecting President Mugabe to stop or to risk being put where they belong.

Chairperson of the ZNLWVA ChiChristophertsvangwa said:

He is a serving General and he never normally strays into political issues. He is also a very senior commander. He went to war in 1973 when he was very young.

He has built up a lot of experience and wisdom and so when he decides to say something we give it due weight and gravity. It is only right and proper that we listen to him with respect.

A cowed war veterans’ spokesperson Douglas Mahiya also backtracked on his earlier sentiments to remove President Mugabe for shielding Kasukuwere and apologised to the general saying:

If the commander (Chiwenga) has spoken, we have to listen to him because tiri vana vadiki, tinovatya, (We are his juniors and we respect him). What he says we will do. I am sorry that I said too much
