Thokozane Khupe's faction allegedly against coalition

The Herald reports that a faction led by MDC-T Vice President Thokozani Khupe is against the proposed coalition between the party and Joice Mujuru and the Welshman Ncube led MDC. To support this assumption The Herald states that party members who belong to Khupe’s faction boycotted last week’s signing of MoU’s with Ncube and Mujuru.

Sources interviewed by The Herald state that the coalition was rejected by a majority of the party’s provinces but MDC-T president Mr Morgan Tsvangirai forced the National Executive and National Council to accept the coalition. The sources also allege that Khupe’s faction is against the coalition because if it succeeds she would be demoted with Mujuru taking up the female Vice President role and Ncube representing Matebeleland. Members who are believed to belong to Khupe’s faction are Lovemore Moyo, Douglas Mwonzora and Abednico Bhebhe.

However Mwonzora and Obert Gutu denied allegations that they boycotted the MoU signing stating that they had prior arrangements which they had made known to Tsvangirai before hand.
