Command Agriculture is on the ground, not on social media: Mnangagwa takes a dig at Moyo

Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa took a subtle hit at fellow cabinet minister Professor Jonathan Moyo by telling Zimbabweans not to be distracted by criticism of the Command Agriculture programme. Mnangagwa said the programme had been a huge success and urged people to ignore those criticising it on Twitter. Professor Moyo had previously questioned aspects of the programme on social media site, Twitter.

Speaking at the Maize Value Chain Conference organised by Buy Zimbabwe in conjunction with the Zimbabwe Agricultural Society, Mnangagwa said:

Do not mind Twitter, Command Agriculture is on the ground, not on social media.  There is no doubt that Command Agriculture has yielded positive results, as the projected maize yield from the 2016/17 season will be the best, in a number of years.

Indications from the areas I have toured to date suggest that we are headed for a bumper harvest that will be upward of two million tonnes.
