Former Warriors midfielder Moses Chunga has urged ZIFA make local languages the medium of instruction for football courses. According to Chunga, this would make it easier and more accessible for former players to attaing higher coaching qualifactions, particularly the CAF A Coaching Licence. Bambo also said that this would reduce the enrollment fees.
Said Chunga:
It is my opinion that we should take a cue from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education. Put all the coaching courses in vernacular for everyone to understand. That will not be peculiar to Zimbabwe, go to Asia or any of those Arab countries, or even Belgium, France, Holland, Germany they learn these courses in their own languages,
We may end up having coaches that are every fluent in English and appearing intelligent, but cannot coach a successful club. What help does that give us?
The thing is we have doctors, teachers and even journalists wanting to be Premiership club coaches, neglecting their own professions. They forget that coaching in itself is a calling. There are talented coaches who might be unfortunate to have not been able to master the Queen’s language in school, but they have the pedigree to assemble and lead good teams at the highest level. Why not give them a chance in their God given profession?
