Residents in Beitbridge have resorted to Limpopo River after going a month without water after the Zimbabwe National Water Authority (Zinwa) cut off the town’s water supply after the local authority failed to pay.
Morgan Ncube who chairs the town’s Combined Residents Association told NewZimbabwe.com that residents are buying dirty water from cart pushers who are getting it from the Limpopo River. He said Beitbridge residents were paying 92 cents per every cubic meter and want council to retake over the town’s water supplies and reduce charges.
