Zanu-PF members in Bindura will today hold a demonstration against the party’s National Commissar and Local Government minister Saviour Kasukuwere whom they are accusing of plotting to unconstitutionally unseat President Robert Mugabe.
It is alleged that Zanu-PF members loyal to Kasukuwere tried to counter today’s demonstration by organising a solidarity march for Mugabe but the application was turned down by police because of another programme which had been approved. Saviour Kasukuwere allegedly sent Zanu-PF youth to intimidate people not to participate in today’s demonstration. Kasukuwere is also accused of trying to capture party structures via candidate impositions with the objective of advocating for an Extraordinary Zanu-PF Congress ahead of next year’s elections to replace Mugabe as President.
