Govt to recruit nurses and doctors for first time since 2012
Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr David Parirenyatwa has revealed that the government will be recruiting 250 doctors and 2000 nurses. Recruitment had been on hold since 2012. However, Treasury recently approved the recruitment of the health professionals although this number is still inadequate According to experts, the health sector still requires 10 000 nurses.
Said David Parirenyatwa:
The first 500 nurses are starting work now in April. We will be recruiting them in four batches of 500 each.
FeedbackAs for the doctors it is an ongoing exercise where we will be employing them as they finish their internship periods in their various basis but we are moving forward with the exercise and we hope this will go a long way in improving the overall performance of the health sector.
