George Charamba defends Mugabe's dressing at the just ended AEP Summit in Mauritius

Presidential spokesperson, Mr George Charamba has defended President Robert Mugabe’s dressing during the official of the  African Economic Platform Summit recently held in Mauritius on Monday. Speaking to The Herald, Charamba said that there was nothing wrong with Mugabe wearing a long sleeved Cuban shirt on the day as was it was in line with the prescribed dress code requested by the event organisers.

However, social media was awash with negative comments questioning Mugabe’s dress code after pictures of him were shared. However Charamba says Mugabe was commended for sticking to the dress code. Said Charamba:

The trouble is that we are so schooled in British dress etiquette that any departure from it amounts to scruffiness and its more interesting the the President was putting on a Cuban shirt. In their estimates, those critics’ estimates, anything that departs from British sartorial tradition passes for scruffiness. That is how colonised we are.
