Man stabs and kills stepmother following argument over stolen chickens

Reginald Siketa (30) stabbed and killed his stepmother with a knife before attacking his stepbrother Regis Siketa (17) with the same weapon after he tried to defend his mother. The incident took place at Number 5, E Section in Hwange in the full view of two minor children.

Siketa had an argument with his stepmother after she questioned him about some chickens he allegedly stole last Wednesday when she was at church with her family. The Chronicle was told that neighbours rushed the woman and her son to Hwange Colliery Hospital but died before she was admitted as nurses reportedly refused to attend to her demanding a police report.

The woman was stabbed under the left breast and behind the right shoulder. Reginald’s father Mr Ronald Siketa told The Chronicle that he could not comment on the issue as he was grief stricken and referred all questions to the police. Hwange Local Board Councillor Mr Godi Nyoni confirmed the incident to the publication while Matebeleland North Assistant Inspector Eglon Nkala was not available for comment.
