Press Statement for Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association on the strike

UPDATE ON DOCTORS STRIKE.

16-02-17

Today will be day two of our industrial action. We urged all our members to remain focused and take inspiration from the success of Day 1.

We have noted with utter disappointment the new tactics by various Clinical Directors at central hospital, that instead of engaging doctors and try to find solutions to our current demands, they have reverted to threats and victimization. We inform all our members that a document circulating with threats, is the same document that was used to intimidate people just a few years ago. It is just an ‘Archive’ which represent one of the many tricks used by authorities to test our strength, unity and courage .

Threatening is a sign of fear. A last ditch attempt at resolving a problem without engaging. We will not waiver.

To the Ministry of Health and other responsible authorities, we urge them to respond to our needs quickly, so that normalcy returns to our hospitals.

Together we will save the profession.

We are meeting the Ministry this morning at 08:00am and an update will follow soon after.

WE STAY UNITED
