NUST considers introducing two intakes

The National University of Science and Technology (NUST)’s Director of Information, Mr Felix Moyo confirmed to The Chronicle that the university is considering two intakes.

Said Moyo:

We are considering introducing two intakes, although that is a matter under discussion. Once we come up with something concrete we will make an announcement.

Moyo further said that the university was considering introducing a second intake due to the overwhelming number of applications from prospective students. According to a 2014 study, NUST receives about 5 000 applications but can only cater for 1 500. However there are mixed feelings over the proposal with some feeling that the quality of education will be compromised as lecturers will be overwhelmed and won’t have enough time for consultations. Some believe that the infrastructure and accommodation woes faced by the institution will worsen if they introduce a second intake.
