Driver involved in car crash that killed Simba Mhere fails to have charges dropped

Preshalin Naidoo (24) yesterday failed to have his charges dropped after arguing through his lawyer Francois Roets that the State’s case was weak and full of contradictions. Roets argued that State witnesses gave contradicting and unreliable evidence.

However, Magistrate David Mahango disagreed saying there was enough evidence to convict Naidoo. Naidoo’s lawyer asked the court to disregard a report from Leronzo Stoger from Car Track claiming it was admissible after Stoger had told the court that the tracking unit fitted in Naidoo’s car showed that he was going at 166km/h when the accident took place.
