Furious woman attempts suicide after son marries alleged hooker
Nomathemba Moyo, a 48-year-old from Masvingo reportedly drank rat poison on Saturday night after an argument with her son over his new wife. Her son who is 22 years old had reportedly brought a woman in her early thirties who is alleged to be a known commercial sex worker in the neighbourhood. The mother became upset when her son demanded his late father’s cattle in order to pay lobola.
The mother could not stomach it and after a heated argument, she drank rat poison. She was admitted at Masvingo Provincial Hospital where she is battling for her life.
According to New Zimbabwe a source close to the matter reported:
Her (Moyo’s) elder son came home with a prostitute on Thursday night and indicated that the woman had come to join the family as his wife even though he was fully aware that the lady is a well-known commercial sex worker.
The mother then told him that it was better for her to take her in life than to see her son wasting the family’s fortune on a prostitute.
