US Embassy Harare calls for immediate release of Pastor Evan Mawarire
The United States Embassy Harare has joined many others who are calling for the release of Pastor Evan Mawarire. The embassy expressed their concern following Mawarire’s arrest and detention on his return to Zimbabwe. In a statement released on Thursday, the embassy called for the government of Zimbabwe to “respect and to protect the human rights of all Zimbabwe citizens.”
Mawarire has since been transferred to Chikirubhi Maximum Security Prison after he was denied bail yesterday by Magistrate Elisha Singano.
