MDC-T is strong enough to go solo in all provinces except Mashonaland - Khupe

MDC-T Vice President Thokozani Khupe has stressed that the MDC-T is strong enough to take on ZanuPF in most provinces in next year’s harmonised elections.

Speaking on the proposed grand coalition, Khupe said that MDC-T had performed poorly in the Mashonaland regions, therefore they need a partner who was strong in those regions. While Khupe admitted that she was for the coalition, she stressed that she was against alliances with political parties that did not add any value to the MDC-T.

Speaking to New Zimbabwe, Khupe said:

On coalition, you want value addition to what you already have. You don’t want someone who will come and disturb what we have already. What we don’t have right now is Mashonaland and that’s where we need a strong coalition partner and that is the only way we are able to remove Zanu PF

As apolitical party you want a coalition because you will have realised a gap in your party and as the MDC, where is our gap, it is clear our gap is in Mashonaland East, West and Central where we have consistently not done well.
