Inspector Joseph Matarutse who is based in Gweru is suing the Zimbabwe Republic Police for turning down his retirement after completing 20 years of service.
Matarutse who was studying Natural Resources Management and Agriculture between July 2011 and July 2014 at the Midlands State University is bonded by the ZRP until 2020. He however argues that he is a self sponsored student hence the ZRP cannot block his retirement. He cited Officer Commanding Police Midlands, Chief Staff Officer, Commissioner General of Police, Police Commission and Minister of Home Affairs as respondents.
In response to Matarutse, the Chief Staff Officer and Commissioner General submitted that Matarutse is serving a bonding contract which will end in 2020.
