Minister makes U-turn over payment of toll gate fees says press reports were false
Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development Joram Gumbo has backtracked and made a complete u-turn on the issue MPs, being exempted from paying toll gate fees. Last week Gumbo was quoted as saying MPs would pay their tollgate fees just like any other citizen, citing that the government needed the revenue.
However, when quizzed about this by Uzumba Member of the National Assembly Simbaneuta Mudarikwa, Gumbo backtracked and denied ever making the statements attributed to him saying
I never said MPs should pay at tollgates, it is a lie. MPs will continue having their exemption.
FeedbackThe MPs were against the paying of tollgate fees arguing that they would be on government business.
