Met Department warns of potential floods in 5 provinces.

The Meteorological Department has warned of potential flooding in the next two days.  According to to the Met department, 5 provinces out of the country’s 10 provinces are at risk.  Some parts of the country have already been hit by flash floods.  In a text message sent to Econet Subscribers over the weekend, the met department said:

Heavy rains are expected in Manicaland, Masvingo, Matabeleland, Midlands and all Mashonaland provinces from 14 to 17 January with high risk of flooding.

The met department also warned people to be on the look out and to avoid flooded areas.  This comes after some cars have been swept of bridges by flooded rivers. In a statement, the Met Department said:

Be especially cautious at night when it’s harder to recognize flood dangers. In case of severe thunderstorms, if outdoors, seek shelter immediately but not under a tree on in isolated sheds.
