Government refuses to sign off on ZETDC proposal to sack 1 600 workers
The government has stopped the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) from sacking 1 600 workers. The parastatal is overstaffed by over 5 000 workers, which has been straining the salary and wage bills. However, the government refused to sign off on the propopsal
A governmentt official who spoke to the Financial Gazette said:
Government has rejected a proposal by ZETDC to undertake a redundancy exercise.
FeedbackInstead, we said these (workers) should be re-deployed to other departments within ZETDC
However, ZETDC refuted the retrenchmet claims. ZESA’s acting spokesperson, Shepherd Mandizvidza said:
