High Court suspends Chief Justice interviews
High Court judge, Justice Charles Hungwe yesterday suspended the public interviews for the position of Chief Justice that were set for today following a successful application by University of Zimbabwe law student Mr Romeo Taombera Zibani to do away with the interviews and grant President Mugabe unfettered discretion to appoint a Chief Justice of his choice,
In a press statement the Judicial Service Commission said it will appeal the decision at the Supreme Court today. The JSC will meet at 9am this morning to decide whether to proceed, the commission announced in a Press statement last night. The JSC said that their appeal suspends the High Court’s decision to suspend the public hearings.
