Zimbabwe to import 100 000 tones of maize from Mexico

The Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe (GMAZ) is set to sign a deal to import maize from Mexico.   GMAZ held a meeting with the Mexican Minister of Agriculture in South Africa last Saturday.  The deal will see Zimbabwe importing 100 000 tonnes of maize, to add to the 517 000 tonnes already imported from Mexico since the beginning of the year.

Tafadzwa Musarara of GMAZ said:

GMAZ will sign up for 100 000 metric tonnes of white maize to be supplied by Terra Wealth to supplement its grain reserves.

We are finalising on the payment instrument and hope to complete that in the next seven days. We are speeding on the signing of the agreement because we are competing with Venezuela for the Mexican maize
