Chombo orders police to mount more road blocks
Minister of Home Affairs Ignatius Chombo has ordered the police to increase the number of road blocks during the festive season. This is for the “safety of travellers.” However, this is likely to be met with dismay by the public and the tourism sector which feel the number of road blocks is already excessive. The tourism sector recently petitioned vice-president Emmerson Mnangangwa to look into reducing the number of road blocks.
Chombo said:
We will increase the roadblocks during the festive season to ensure that we weed out vehicles which are not roadworthy, all unlicensed drivers and overloaded vehicles.
