Highlanders say Gumede not reinstated despite Labour Court ruling

Highlanders Football Club have said that its suspended chief executive officer, Ndumiso Gumede has not been reinstated despite a Labour Court hearing which nullified his suspension. The club said that they will uphold Zifa‘s directive.

Speaking to The Chronicle, Highlanders secretary general Emmett Ndlovu said:

The Highlanders position remains the same. The meeting we sat as a joint board and executive resolved to comply with a Zifa directive. Anything else that happens outside that resolution is not and will never be the position of Highlanders Football Club. We don’t want to be at variance with those who run football in this country. However we understand that there has been a ruling  at the Labour Court and the best person to comment on that is Davies Sibanda.

Gumede last week took his employer to the Labour Court challenging his suspension and Highlanders, who were represented by Davies Ndumiso Sibanda, did not challenge the application.
