Government urged to unfreeze all nursing posts
Women Action Group director, Ms Magaret Masiiwa has called on Government to unfreeze all nursing posts to enable new and existing health institutions to ease staff shortages.
Presenting findings from a community mobilisation programme, Masiiwa said there was shortage of nurses in some institutions. She also said that the shortage of nursing staff contributed to bad attitudes towards patients by some health workers due to being overworked.
In a recent interview by The Herald, Health Services Board chief executive Ms Ruth Kaseke also concurred with Masiiwa and urged Treasury to unfreeze a big number of nurses.
