UZ backs down on fees, allows unregistered students to sit for final exams

The University of Zimbabwe has made the decision to allow unregistered students to sit for their final exams  despite the students having outstanding tuition bills.  This is a break from previous years, when the university would allow only those who had paid at least 60% of the fees.

In a statement the university said:

The vice chancellor has directed that all unregistered students who have been attending lectures and have fulfilled all the coursework requirements as determinedn by the respective departments will be permitted to sit for the end of year semester examinations commencing on November 16, 2016….You are required to pay a minimum of $20 and register by November 4, 2016.

This brings relief to students with arrears who are failing to cope due to the escalating economic hardships.
