Sunday Mail apologises to Moyo for vehicle scandal story
The Sunday Mail yesterday issued an apology to Higher Education Minister Jonathan Moyo for the article which carried the title “Prof Moyo in vehicles scandal”.
In the apology they say that they point out that they published the article based on information received from investigators from the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission and Geoffrey Nyarota,
The Sunday Mail published its report on the basis of information supplied by Zacc investigators, Impi chairman Mr Geoffrey Nyarota, and documentation con-firming approval of purchase of he vehicles for use by Information and Media Inquiry (Impi). It has since been clarified by the Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Ministry that the allegations against Prof Moyo were being made by people unaware of the full workings of the ministry and Impi, and that Prof Moyo had not in fact seized the vehicles in question and that they were indeed on the ministry’s asset register.

Moyo has since sued Zimpapers for defamation caused by the article.
