Sources told NewsDay that Bright Matonga was expelled from Zimbabwe People First (ZimPF) by Joice Mujuru, a few weeks ago on charges of spying.

The ZimPF source said,

Matonga was expelled a few weeks ago after being accused of being a spy for the military and especially for a faction of Zanu PF associated with Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Another source also claimed that the late Kudzai Mbudzi was going to be expelled on charges of fanning factionalism,

Mbudzi was also going to be expelled on charges of fanning factionalism in the party. He was working with (Dzikamai) Mavhaire, but the latter had shown some sort of contrition. Mbudzi was due to appear before a tribunal, but unfortunately died.
