Former President Robert Mugabe’s nephew and former Minister of Public Services, Patrick Zhuwao has said that he is quitting politics and will not be returning to Zimbabwe. Zhuwao claimed that his life is at risk if he comes back to Zimbabwe alleging that his farm had already been looted and that his farm workers had been severely assaulted for their association to him
In an interview with The Standard, Zhuwao, who was speaking from a secret location in South Africa, said:
<blockquote>I am not coming. When one looks at attacks launched on my farm and farm workers who were frog-marched and severely beaten just for working for me, it is enough evidence that my safety is not guaranteed. My farm was looted too.
People can say I ran away, yes I did. It’s better than to wait to be killed.</blockquote>
Zhuwao also said that he will always be loyal to Mugabe, and because of that, he was not going to get back into politics. He claimed that the only way he can get back into politics is by being disloyal to Mugabe and attacking him, as some of Mugabe’s former subordinates are now doing.

I am proud to have served under President Robert Mugabe.
I was loyal to him during his tenure as president and I even today I am still loyal to him, much than loyalty I could have exhibited as his nephew. From a personal point of view, I am grateful to those who stood by Mugabe.
My political life existed for the duration of President Mugabe’s tenure. The options that were there politically for me was to become disloyal to him and that to me was not acceptable.</blockquote>

I am not coming back to Zim, My Safety Is Not Guaranteed Says Mugabe's Nephew Zhuwao

In an interview with Sunday News on the sidelines of a breakfast meeting in Bulawayo on Friday, Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Patrick Zhuwao said his ministry is working on strategic framework  to deal with underemployment which he said must be ready by 1 December.
Underemployment refers to a situation where workers who are highly skilled are working in low paying jobs, workers who are highly skilled but working in low skill jobs and part-time workers who would prefer to be full time. Said Zhuwao:
<blockquote>We are developing a strategic framework which will assist us to resolve under-employment. Zimbabwe at almost full employment is at 95 percent but that employment is primarily made up of people in the informal sector with about 84 percent of the employment coming from the informal sector which I regard as unrecorded unemployment. This coming week we are going to develop the concept note and then engage stakeholders. In the second week, we will have national mobilisation around the concept and the third week we will have provincial outreach programmes to understand how we can put the strategy into effect. In the fourth week, we will get report back on the provincial consultations. Ultimately by the last week of November, the framework should be released before the Christmas break. The strategic framework will be used for the labour sector from 2018 – 2023.</blockquote>

Acting tourism minister, Patrick Zhuwao has threatened to arrest South African socialite and dancer Zodwa Wabantu if she dances without panties stating that it is a criminal offence.
Said Zhuwao:
<blockquote>We can’t borrow things from elsewhere. We can’t turn around and say dancing without panties is decent. It’s not, it’s disgusting. If they do it in South Africa, in Zimbabwe it is not done. Over and above that (dancing without panties) is a criminal offence. She’ll be violating section 77 of the Criminal Code so if she, (Zodwa Wabantu) comes here, she’s going to be arrested if she does that, so she shouldn’t.</blockquote>

Zhuwao threatens Zodwa Wabantu with arrest

In an interview with The Standard, President Robert Mugabe’s nephew Patrick Zhuwao who also serves as Youth and Indigenisation Minister said that the President is protecting the people of Zimbabwe by creating a Mugabe dynasty.
Below is an excerpt of the interview:
<blockquote>XN: There is this feeling among Zimbabweans that the president and the first lady are trying to create a Mugabe dynasty. What is your view as an insider?
PZ: Let me be very clear about this, the president is trying to protect Zimbabweans first than himself.  He is protecting the legacy of the independence and the interest of the revolution.
XN: By creating a Mugabe dynasty? 
PZ: President Mugabe has been selfless. I am a member of his family, I know him well, that he puts the people of Zimbabwe first before his own family.
XN: Well, one would say he has a nephew in his cabinet, his wife in Zanu PF top leadership. Can that be described as protecting national interests?
PZ: Yes, we are so many of us in government my brother, but I am in government not because of my relationship with the president, but loyalty and capacity.
I have the capacity and that is why I am a target in the Blue Ocean document.
The first lady is there not because she wanted to be there, but she was requested by Zanu PF structures to do so.
This was after they looked at her capacity and ability, so don’t tell me about the dynasty. Those who are saying so know nothing, the likes of Victor Matemadanda.</blockquote>

Today Minister of Youth, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Patrick Zhuwao nominated Zimdancehall musician Soul Jah Love as a ZIMCHEER Star.
ZIMCHEER stands for Zimbabwe Champions and Heroes of the Economic Empowerment Revolution which is an initiative ran by the Zimbabwe Youth Council and Zhuwao’s ministry to celebrate potential and accomplishments of Zimbabweans across generations. Soul Jah Love honoured by Zhuwao

President Robert Mugabe’s nephew Patrick Zhuwao wrote to defence minister Sydney Sekeramayi seeking protection after he was threatened by soldiers with unspecified action while travelling towards Harare in Darwendale . Zhuwao copied the letter to State Security minister Kembo Mohadi.
In the letter in Standard’s possession, Zhuwao states that the soldiers wore berets which indicated that they are members of the Mounted Regiment. The soldiers said that they would deal with Zhuwao after signalling him to stop. He wrote that he reported the matter to Major Chikukwa, a military intelligent officer stationed at Inkomo Barracks.

Zhuwao threatened by soldiers, writes to Sekeramayi seeking protection

In a statement, Youth and Empowerment Minister Patrick Zhuwao responded to The Herald’s description of him as Professor Jonathan Moyo’s cheerleader after he attended the SAPES Trust lecture last week. He also attacked Team Lacoste which is believed to be in support of Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa taking over as Zanu-PF president from Mugabe.
Said Zhuwao:

Zhuwao attacks Herald, Team Lacoste

Addressing journalists after chairing a young entrepreneurs meeting at Stodart Hall in Mbare on Wednesday, Youth Development, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Minister Patrick Zhuwao reasoned that it was okay for youths not to pay back Government loans because big companies have done it too.
Said Zhuwao:
<blockquote>I don’t agree with the reports and allegations that the youths have abused funds. We forget what happened to other large companies which were removed from the Zimbabwe Asset Management Corporation (ZAMCO) due to unpaid debts they had. There are Members of Parliament who have $3 million debts, who now point fingers at youths who only have $2 000, which is a bad thing. Instead, let us focus on strategies to empower the youths and grow the economy.</blockquote>

Zhuwao reasons youths should be left to steal Govt funds because big companies do it too

President Robert Mugabe’s nephew and Minister of Youth and Economic Empowerment Patrick Zhuwao has hit out at the Zanu-PF members calling for the removal of Saviour Kasukuwere. Knives have been out for Kasukuwere following nationwide calls for his removal as the party’s National Political Commissar. Zhuwao has described the organizers of the nationwide demonstrations as idiots.
Speaking to The Standard, Zhuwao said:
<blockquote>There were certain individuals that were claiming to come from Mashonaland Central province and had issues with Kasukuwere. What was meant to be a localised issue then got turned into a national issue and you see certain provinces getting up to support what is happening in Mashonaland Central.
That was idiotic and nonsensical. It was foolishness of the worst order. I am a member of the PCC [provincial coordinating committee) for Mashonaland West. What the province did was stupid and that particular PCC was called for on a day we had Cabinet and I couldn’t attend but otherwise I was going to tell the chairman and all those who were pushing this nonsensical idea that they are being foolish and still continue to be foolish.</blockquote>
