Vincent Tsvangirai the son of Morgan Tsvangirai the founding father of the opposition MDC has said that sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the Western states must be removed as they are hurting the general populace.
Vincent was responding to oral evidence presented by an organisation named Broad Alliance Against Sanctions who petitioned parliament over the western embargo. The organisation is pushing for the enactment of a Patriotic Act to punish individuals perceived to have invited sanctions. Tsvangirai said:
<blockquote>My fear is that it (Patriotic Act) may sound good to put an act like that, for one, I am a patriotic person who believes that sanctions do hurt ordinary persons but at the same time making an act like that I believe sometimes you may end up opening citizens to further harm.</blockquote>
The Glenview South legislator also said that the sanctions have never achieved anything positive elsewhere and their effects spill to unintended targets, the ordinary citizens.
Vincent’s remarks come when his party, the MDC led by Nelson Chamisa, is saying that sanctions are affecting targeted individuals in the ruling ZANU PF.
MDC also says ZANU PF’s maladministration is the real issue hurting citizens and not sanctions.

The family of the late MDC leader <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Morgan_Tsvangirai">Morgan Tsvangirai</a> had urged the President and the MDC leader’s <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Nelson_Chamisa">Nelson Chamisa</a> to resolve the political crisis in Zimbabwe because Tsvangirai wouldn’t have wanted the people to suffer, Newsday reports.
The family spokesperson Manase Tsvangirai speaking to Newsday said:
<blockquote>The people are suffering. The current situation should bring everybody on board. It was not the dream of Morgan Tsvangirai to see the people suffering. That is why after defeating Mugabe in March 2018, he accepted to enter into a unity government with him to save people from suffering.
He was a selfless leader who put people first in all his decisions. I am challenging President Mnangagwa and MDC leader Nelson Chamisa to put people first and swallow their pride and enter into dialogue.</blockquote>
Tsvangirai died on the 14th of February in 2018 after a 2 year battle with cancer.

End The People's Suffering, Resolve The Political Crisis In Zimbabwe - Tsvangirai's Family To ED And Chamisa

Former Zimbabwe Deputy Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs, Obert Gutu who is also the Vice President of the MDC-T led by Thokozani Khupe has said that Zimbabwe needs strong institutions and opposed to strong personalities.
Advocate Gutu said that institutions are long-lasting whilst personalities are for a very short period of time. He tweeted:
<blockquote>Strong personalities come &amp; go. Strong personalities are ephemeral. 
Strong institutions last forever. 
Strong institutions are eternal. 
What Zimbabwe needs right now &amp; needs it very, very badly, are strong institutions, not strong personalities</blockquote>
Gutu’s remarks come when Zimbabweans have a culture of hero-worshipping which creates cults around political leaders whom they want to be portrayed as invincible.
The political culture started during the days of the late former leaders of ZANU PF and MDC, in that order, Robert Mugabe and Morgan Tsvangirai and is being promoted through President Mnangagwa and Nelson Chamisa.
ZANU PF and MDC were now synonymous with Mugabe and Tsvangirai, respectively and any other person who would like to challenge them would be considered an enemy.
The culture created a huge problem for both parties and the nation at large as the great leaders failed to come up with succession plans and the parties were left weaker than they were before.

"Zimbabwe Badly Needs Strong Institutions Not Strong Personalities," Former Justice Minister

Opposition leader, Dr Thokozani Khupe has said that the late founding father of the MDC (T), Morgan Tsvangirai would have supported any initiative to bring Zimbabweans.
Her remarks come when the other opposition MDC (A) led by advocate Nelson Chamisa is adamant that it will not join the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) forum that was initiated by President Emmerson Mnangagwa and houses other presidential candidates in the 2018 elections.
Chamisa’s party argue that POLAD is constituted of individuals who already support the ruling ZANU PF and hence it is “a fool’s errand” which will never achieve anything.
On the other hand, ZANU PF is saying that there will be no special treatment for Chamisa adding that dialogue can only be held under the POLAD forum.

The opposition MDC led by advocate Nelson Chamisa has dismissed allegations by the ruling ZANU PF and government that there is a “third force” abducting and torturing citizens.
The State had argued that it would not have committed human rights violations immediately before grandiose summits or when United Nations observers were in the country since that was tantamount to shooting self in the foot.
Responding to that reasoning, MDC deputy spokesperson, Luke Tamborinyoka, said in a statement that ZANU PF had committed violence under similar circumstances before.
He said that Cephas Magura, the MDC chairperson for ward 1 in Mudzi North was murdered by Zanu PF in May 2012 at Chimukoko Business Centre whilst the SADC Summit was underway.
Taborinyoka added that former party leader, Morgan Tsvangirai, had to alert Sadc leaders during the summit that one of the party’s supporters had been murdered. He added:
<blockquote>Venue and timing of violence have never mattered to Zanu PF. On May 18, 2007, Chamisa, then the MDC spokesperson, was seized and beaten at the Harare 
International Airport in front of frightened travellers as he headed for a European Union parliamentary conference in Brussels, Belgium. Eight men with iron bars beat him to pulp, took his passport, bags and laptop before speeding off in two cars, one without a licence plate. Seven of his assailants wore suits and one was in an army vest.</blockquote>
There has been a spree of abduction and torture of government critics lately with some observers saying it was the state trying to instil fear in the members of the public.

Abductions & Torture: "Venue & Time Never Mattered For Zanu-PF"

A political analyst, Pedzisai Ruhanya said the fact that the Supreme Court has not determined Morgan Tsvangirai’s 2002 election petition against Robert Mugabe’s rigging of the polls shows that Zimbabwe’s judiciary is captured.
Ruhanya lamented that 17 years later, with both Tsvangirai and Mugabe now dead, the Supreme Court is yet to make a ruling. He wrote:
<blockquote>Both Tsvangirai and Mugabe are dead. The Supreme Court is yet to determine Tsvangirai’s 2002 election petition against Mugabe’s violent and manipulation of the poll using the army 17 years on.
Anyone who says Zimbabwe has an independent judiciary can go to hell or somewhere nearer!</blockquote>
Mugabe defeated Tsvangirai by a narrow margin following a violent pre-election period targeting opposition supporters that was unprecedented.
Scores of opposition supporters were brutally murdered in cold blood, homes were torched and hundreds of activists fled the country.

Supreme Court Yet To Determine Tsvangirai's 2002 Election Petition Against Mugabe - Report

There are reports suggesting that there might be foul play in the death of MDC <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2019/06/10/just-in-vimbai-tsvangirai-java-has-died/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">legislator Vimbai Tsvangirai Java</a>. This comes after revelations that an unidentified man was caught trying to sneak into where she was being treated.
The <a href="https://www.newsday.co.zw/2019/06/tsvangirais-daughter-vimbai-dies/">Newsday</a> reports that an unidentified man was caught trying to sneak into the intensive care unit where Tsvangirai-Java was being treated. The family said the man kept giving different reasons why he wanted to see the MP. The man is reported to have first said he was her relative from Botswana, then a friend to the husband, a party member sent by the women’s assembly to check on her health and finally, a well-wisher who wanted to pray for her.
The Tsvangirai family spokesperson, Manase Tsvangirai expressed shock over the death of Vimbabi whom they had said was on the recovery path. He said:
<blockquote>This is devastating, it’s horrific. Vimbai was a promising politician and she even won an MDC secretary-general position at the just-ended congress and she seemed okay all along.
It is only in the early hours of today (Monday) that we were told to pray for her. The next thing we hear was that she had passed on around past 2pm. This is so sad.</blockquote>

Vimbai Tsvangirai-Java, Glen View South legislator and the daughter of the later MDC founding member, Morgan Tsvangirai is reported dead four weeks after she was involved in a horror crash that claimed the lives of two MDC Alliance officials.

BREAKING: Vimbai Tsvangirai-Java Has Died

Professor Welshman Ncube, MDC deputy president has claimed that the late party leader Morgan Tsvangirai anointed him to be Nelson Chamisa’s assistant before he died.
Speaking on the sidelines of the MDC Mashonaland West provincial caucus meeting on Tuesday, Ncube said:
<blockquote>The most important thing is that when president Tsvangirai was to pass on, he specifically and entrusted me with the responsibility of assisting president Chamisa in the struggle against the junta regime that we have in Zimbabwe today. I promised him in the presence of Chamisa that I will do all I can.</blockquote>

He also said that selection of the deputy president must be on merit as the president needs proper assistance. He added:
<blockquote>Our people believe that we are an inclusive country. We are a tolerant party, we must select and elect people who will honestly and properly assist the president in his task, so there is absolutely no risk of that happening.</blockquote>

President Mnangagwa has mourned the death of two MDC activists who died in an accident in Kwekwe on their way from Bulawayo to Harare yesterday.
Vimbabi Tsvangirai Java, the daughter of the late former Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai escaped the accident with injuries and is in Hospital. Posting on his Twitter page, president Mnangagwa said:

The youthful MDC Alliance President has gone viral a number of times. These are 7 Times he went viral widly viral on social media.

<li>When he ascended to the MDC Alliance Presidency – though it was sad because of the death of the MDC Patriarch Morgan Tsvangirai, social media went crazy when the Youthful Chamisa ascended to the MDC Alliance Throne.</li>

8 Times Chamisa Went Viral On Social Media

Morgan Tsvangirai’s eldest child, Edwin Tsvangirai was jeered at his father’s memorial after he thanked the government and president Mnangagwa for contributing towards the event. The government is reported to have provided logistical support to the Tsvangirai family. In the video below, Edwin suggests that the food that was eaten at the event was government sponsored. Other reports suggest that the government also sent graders to clear the road leading to Tsvangirai’s homestead. When the MDC leader, Nelson Chamisa came to the podium, he supported Edwin’s gesture saying that where due, credit must be given. Some media houses suggest that MDC supporters could not stomach that Tsvangirai’s son called Mnangagwa the president. Their reaction is a strong redolent of Chamisa’s rejection of 2018 poll results. Chamisa dismissed the outcome as fake arguing that the process was flawed and that results were doctored. The matter was taken to the Constitutional Court which declared Mnangagwa the victor after the MDC failed to produce compelling evidence suggesting that the election result was tempered with. The government is funding the Morgan Tsvangirai memorial being held today. According to reports, the government has provided food, clearing of the roads and other logistical support.
Said Manase Tsvangirai, younger brother to the late Morgan Tsvangirai:

Government Funds Tsvangirai Memorial

MDC president Nelson Chamisa on Saturday hailed his predecessor, the late Morgan Tsvangirai as a Democrat who gave his all for a better Zimbabwe.
Chamisa expressed his sentiments through his Twitter handle where he posted:
<blockquote>Today we remember a Democrat who gave his all to all for a better Zimbabwe. We’re in Buhera at Dr MT’s rural home in memory of an outstanding African statesman, a great leader, a revolutionary, veteran trade unionist and humble family man whose legacy we forever cherish. Salute!!</blockquote>
Tsvangirai died on February 14 last year in South Africa where he was undergoing treatment for a cancer ailment.
He was buried at his rural home in Humanikwa village where his memorial service will be held on Saturday (today).

Chamisa Salutes Tsvangirai As "An Outstanding African Statesman"

MDC founding president, the late Morgan Tsvangirai suffered enormously at the hands of the Zimbabwean government during his days in the opposition.
At one point, Tsvangirai was battered and left for dead by police officers during a prayer meeting in one of Harare’s high-density suburbs.

Tsvangirai passed away in a South African hospital on Valentine’s Day last year after a long battle with cancer. His memorial service will be held on Saturday (today) at Humanikwa village in Buhera.

President Mnangagwa’s spokesperson George Charamba has confirmed receipt of invitations to attend Tsvangirai’s memorial service in Buhera. He, however, could not tell whether the president was attending the event or not.
In a telephone interview with the Daily News, Charamba said:
<blockquote>What I can confirm is we got the invitation and the president will see the appropriate thing to do. The family has been in touch with us at every turn.</blockquote>
The family of the late former trade unionist and MDC leader revealed recently that everyone was invited to the occasion. The family is alleged to have gone further to ban the wearing of regalia at the event arguing that it was a family and not party event. Some analysts have viewed this as an endeavour to accommodate ZANU PF which does not know what to expect from the MDC. ZANU PF is very cautious after some of its officials who attended Tsvangirai’s burial got a hostile reception from MDC supporters.

It Remains Unknown If ED Is Attending Tsvangirai Memorial

Zanu-PF member and Manicaland provincial chairman Michael Madiro has said that party members were free to attend the Tsvangirai memorial service to be held in Buhera.
Madiro said that matters of culture transcend political party boundaries. He said:
<blockquote>Matters of culture and tradition cannot be politicised. This is not a matter which we can talk about on political party grounds. As Africans, as Zimbabweans, we are black people and according to our traditions, a memorial service can never be politicised.
I am of the view that anyone who is willing to attend the memorial service is free to go there, whether he is a Zanu-PF member or not. It cannot be said to be an institutional choice to go there, but it should be one’s choice to do so.</blockquote>
These sentiments are also shared by the Tsvangirai family which has indicated that it has since sent invitation letters to every stakeholder in spite of party affiliations.

JUST IN: ZANU PF Permits Members To Attend Tsvangirai Memorial

The MDC says it will not respect the wishes of the late former Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s family, that there should be no party regalia at the memorial service set for May 4.
Speaking to the media in Harare on Tuesday, party spokesperson Jacob Mafume said that MDC supporters are also a part of the Tsvangirai family and should wear whatever they want. Said Mafume:
<blockquote>Soon after May Day, we are going to have a memorial of our icon Morgan Tsvangirai, we are going to attend that in full force.
We are going to be wearing whatever we want to wear, whether it is party regalia or it is not party regalia, as you remember Morgan Tsvangirai is the founder of the MDC, he is red inside his blood, inside his grave and he is red in heaven where he is.
We are the family of Morgan Richard Tsvangirai, his family is the MDC, they were beaten with him, they died with him, they lived with him.
Some of us are carrying his scars of being part of Morgan Richard Tsvangirai’s family.
The family has no demarcation, the whole of Zimbabwe, the MDC and everyone who died in his name, wearing his T-shirt. Everyone who was tortured wearing the MDC T-shirt is Morgan Richard Tsvangirai’s family.</blockquote>
Tsvangirai passed away on February 14 last year after a long battle with cancer. His memorial service will be held at his village of origin, Humanikwa in Buhera where his remains are interred.

MDC Zimbabwe advised that preparations for the Morgan Tsvangirai Memorial event are at an advanced stage. Family members have expressed their gratitude to those who have contribute and those who continue to contribute towards the event.

MDC leader Nelson Chamisa said the party founding father, the late founding father Morgan Tsvangirai anointed him his successor.
Speaking at a party meeting in Harare on Tuesday night, Chamisa said that no one should question the way he is leading party. He said:
<blockquote> Mudhara Tsvangirai akasiya andipa chinhu ichi (Tsvangirai gave me this crown). The vision is given to one person only not to many, we are following the vision, we know where we are and you don’t ask where we are going because we know the direction we are taking..
Zimbabwe will never be the same again, congress is coming to an end soon, don’t listen to those negative reports takabata musangano kuti ngaa (we are in total control of the party.</blockquote>
Chamisa took over MDC leadership following the death of Tsvangirai last year. He is tipped to retain the post at the upcoming May Congress considering that he has been nominated unchallenged for the post in all provinces that have conducted the nomination process so far.
Ahead of the Congress, Chamisa warned party members against violence.

Tsvangirai Anointed Me His Successor - Chamisa

A bid by a Gokwe-based man to stop the oppositin MDC’s elective Congress has fallen apart following High Court’s dismissal of his urgent chamber application.
Elias Mashavire who is challenging Nelson Chamisa’s legitimacy had argued that the MDC’s constitution stipulated that an extraordinary congress to replace the late Morgan Tsvangirai was to be held.
The MDC through Alec Muchadehama, Jeremiah Bamu, Innocent Gonese and Thabitha Khumalo argued that there was nothing urgent about Mashavire’s application. Muchadehama said:
<blockquote>There is nothing urgent and that was noted after we argued that it was incompetent for the applicant (Mashavire) to seek a final order in an interim application.
He was simply supposed to follow up on the ruling of the other matter he filed before (Justice) Mushure. He is awaiting a judgment of the High Court in that matter and filed an urgent chamber application again.
Seeking to stop the congress was misplaced and Mashavire had other remedies to his grievances. He could still challenge the outcome of the congress.</blockquote>
The case was later thrown out by High Court Judge Esther Muremba.
Mashavire approached the High Court challenged Chamisa’s legitimacy on grounds that he had not been endorsed by an extra-ordinary congress.
Mushure previously reserved judgment on the matter on March 14.

Bid To Stop MDC Congress Crumbles

Secretary general of the Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans Association Victor Matemadanda said that current MDC president Nelson Chamisa should emulate the late founding party president Morgan Tsvangirai who put the national interest first.
In an interview with NewZimbabwe.com, Matemadanda said Chamisa lacks maturity and the older and mature MDC leaders were letting him down. He said:
<blockquote>Tsvangirai worked under harsh conditions during former President Robert Mugabe’s despotic reign and even during elections.
But he had a nationalist’s heart. He accepted to work with a dictator Mugabe and contributed positively to the development of the country and these are the kind of people of maturity that we want.
This is the kind of leadership that we want; to say ‘yes I have been incarcerated, I have been beaten and this has happened to me, but for the people of Zimbabwe’.
You have older and mature people who are in MDC but they do not want to advise the young man.
It’s not that he is a bad guy but he is not getting proper advice. I know he is going to criticise me for saying this.
… He had shown being quite good starting with 2.2 million voting for MDC. So he needs the right and older people to guide him.
But at the end also, there is no benefit in talking to him if he doesn’t recognise our Mnangagwa as President of Zimbabwe, not as Zanu PF because he is a product of democratic, orderly and peaceful elections.</blockquote>

Chamisa Should Emulate Tsvangirai - Matemadanda

Richard Tsvangirayi, the son of the founding president of the Movement for Democratic Change, Morgan Tsvangirai has lambasted the government for introducing a new currency without addressing the fundamentals.
Tsvangirayi said that the government should stop the killing and raping people by security forces and restoring the rule of law for sanctions to be removed. <a href="https://twitter.com/RTsvangirayi/status/1099947437618122752" rel="noopener" target="_blank">He said:</a>
<blockquote>You enjoy building houses on flawed foundations right? Introduced a new currency without addressing the fundamentals, sanctions should be lifted without addressing the fundamentals. To end sanctions stop killing and raping people; restore the rule of law.</blockquote>
Tsvangirayi was responding to a social media user who had accused the late Morgan Tsvangirai of propagating the sanctions.

'Stop Killing And Raping Of People For Sanctions To Go' - Richard Tsvangirayi

Speaking at the Morgan Tsvangirai memorial lecture, Nelson Chamisa said he was told by the late MDC founding leader Morgan Tsvangirai to lead the party.
He said Tsvangirai wanted him to achieve his vision of unity. Chamisa said he was tasked to bring back Tendai Biti and Welshman Ncube into the party. He said he was reluctant to take up the post because he knew Thokozani Khupe would resist. Said Chamisa:
<blockquote>I told the leadership that before Tsvangirai passed on, he told me to lead the MDC to achieve his vision of unity. My job is to ensure I provide a vision. A vision is for a few and provision for many. What is the vision? This year is our year of congress. We are deepening our democracy and democratically electing our leadership. We want to show we are not Zanu PF, but a party of the people that is going to lead. We are going to congress in honour of the legacy of Morgan Tsvangirai. On January 5 (2018), before he went to seek medication, he called me. Luke (Tamborinyoka) was there. His wife (Elizabeth Macheka) was there and many others. He said to me: ‘Chamisa, I am going, so I am leaving you in charge. I want you to bring Welshman Ncube and Tendai Biti back into the party. I said I have heard you, but the job you want to give me, this will cause problems if you leave me in charge. I said to him, ‘please, appoint Mudzuri to act while you are away, then I will do the work that you have asked me when you come back, but Tsvangirai asked me why I was refusing and I said if (Thokozani) Khupe hears this, she will faint.</blockquote>

Tsvangirai Told Me To Lead MDC- Chamisa

In a statement yesterday, Zanu-PF Secretary for Legal Affairs Paul Mangwana dismissed MDC’s Nelson Chamisa that Morgan Tsvangirai died a bitter man after the ruling party reneged on a deal to co-opt him into President Mnangagwa’s Government.
Mangwana said there were no discussions of a  National Transitional Authority or GNU with Tsvangirai. Said Mangwana:
<blockquote>Never in our discussions did the issue of a National Transitional Authority or GNU come up from either side. Furthermore, Zanu-PF had resolved that former president Robert Mugabe would be removed through constitutional means and be replaced according to the dictates of that same Constitution, which has no provisions for a Transitional Authority or a GNU. There was no direct communication between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the MDC leader, Mr Morgan Tsvangirai, in the days leading to the resignation of former president Mugabe. In my capacity then as Zanu-PF Deputy Secretary for Legal Affairs and Cde Lovemore Matuke, in his capacity then as Zanu-PF Chief Whip, we were tasked with representing Zanu-PF in talks with the MDC-T in the processes regarding the former president’s impeachment. We communicated with Mr Douglas Mwonzora (the MDC-T secretary-general and my fellow COPAC co-chairperson) and Murisi Zwizwai (chief of staff) who served as representatives of the late Mr Morgan Tsvangirai and his party.</blockquote>

Zanu-PF Never Promised Tsvangirai GNU In Exchange For Support To Impeach Mugabe- Paul Mangwana

<blockquote>Born 10 March 1952 in Buhera area in then Rhodesia, to Karanga father Dzingirai-Chibwe and mother Lydia. He is the eldest of 9 children, and the son of a communal farmer, mine worker, carpenter and bricklayer.
He completed his secondary education at Gokomere with 8 Ordinary levels, in 1972 he landed his first job as a trainee weaver said for Elastics and Tapes textile factory in Mutare. In 1974 an old school mate encouraged Morgan to apply for a job as an apprentice at Bindura’s Nickel.
He spent ten years at the mine, rising from plant operator to plant supervisor. He married Susan, in 1978. The couple had six children during their 31-year marriage, which ended with her death in the 2009 car crash.
In 1980 he joined the ascendent ZANU–PF party, led by Mugabe, who would later become his biggest political rival. He is reported to have been an ardent Mugabe supporter and to have risen “swiftly in the hierarchy”, eventually becoming one of the party’s senior officials.
In 1989 he became the Secretary-General of the ZCTU in 1999 he founded the MDC, an opposition party opposed to Mugabe. He helped to defeat the Feb 2000 Con Ref successfully campaigning against.
He was arrested after the 2000 elections and charged with treason; this charge was later dismissed. In 2004, he was acquitted of treason for an alleged plot to assassinate Mugabe in the run-up to the 2002 elections. He was represented by George Bizos.
He was also charged After telling his 40 000 supporters at a rally in Harare that if Mr Mugabe did not want to step down before the next elections scheduled for 2002. The courts dismissed the charges.
In 2007 a day after his 55th birthday, He was arrested on his way to a prayer rally in the Harare township of Highfield. His wife was allowed to see him in prison, after which she reported that he had been heavily tortured by police, resulting in deep gashes on his.
March 2007 after being arrested and held at Machipisa Police Using sjamboks, army belts and gun butts, the soldiers attacked Tsvangirai until he passed out. One of the soldiers poured cold water all over Tsvangirai to resuscitate him.
Tsvangirai regained consciousness again at around 1:30 am One vicious woman was left to work on him. She removed an army belt from her waist &amp; used it to assault Tsvangirai until he passed out again.
He was in bad shape, he was swollen very badly. He was bandaged on the head. You couldn’t distinguish between the head and the face and he could not see properly,” Innocent Chagonda, an attorney, told Reuters after visiting a Harare police station where Tsvangirai was being held.
According to lawyer BitiTendai the Secretary-General of the MDC and an MP for Harare East, who was arrested along with Tsvangirai, Tsvangirai suffered a cracked skull and “must have passed out at least three times.” Tsvangirai was subsequently admitted in ICU at a local hospital.
A Zimbabwean freelance cameraman, Edward Chikombo, smuggled television pictures of Tsvangirai’s injuries following the beating. Chikombo was later abducted from his home in Glenview. His body was discovered the next weekend near the village of Darwendale 80km west of Harare.

On 25 October 2007, it was reported that Musekiwa, who was Morgan Tsvangirai’s bodyguard had died from complications resulting from injuries sustained in March 2007, during a crackdown. MDC spokesman Nelson Chamisa by then said Musekiwa had been vomiting blood since 11 March.

In September 2007, it was widely reported that Tsvangirai met Thabo Mbeki, the former President of South Africa for crucial talks on how to speed up talks between the ruling ZANU PF and the Movement for Democratic Change party.
On 22 June 2008, Tsvangirai announced at a press conference that he was withdrawing from the run-off, describing it as a “violent sham” and saying that his supporters risked being killed. He vowed that the MDC would ultimately prevail and that its victory could “only be delayed.
On 22 July 2008, Tsvangirai and Mutambara met Mugabe face-to-face and shook hands with him for the first time in over a decade for negotiations orchestrated by Mbeki, aiming for a settlement of electoral disputes that would share power between MDC and the ZANU at the executive level.
On 11 February 2009 Tsvangirai was sworn in as the Prime Minister of Zimbabwe. In June, Morgan Tsvangirai met BarackObama.
During a visit to South Korea in May 2010, Tsvangirai was conferred with an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws by Pai Chai University, becoming the 13th recipient of an honorary degree in the 125-year history of this United Methodist Church institution.
In June 2016 Tsvangirai had announced that he had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing treatment. Over the following years the condition of his health declined and on 6 February 2018, it was announced that he was critically ill. Zorora Murugare Gamba re Zimbabwe.</blockquote>

The late founding president of the MDC, Morgan Tsvangirai is said to have died a bitter man after Zanu PF and President Emmerson Mnangagwa took him for a fool soon after the November 2017 military coup.
This was revealed by his successor Nelson Chamisa who was speaking during the Morgan Tsvangirai memorial lecture in Harare on Thursday.
Chamisa said that Tsvangirai supported Mnangagwa’s military-backed takeover expecting a transitional arrangement to be put in place before elections could be held. Said Chamisa:
<blockquote>Mudhara Tsvangirai died a very disappointed man. Why was he disappointed, because he was betrayed by people who had agreed to have a transitional arrangement?
They then went to elections without the reforms, without the transitional arrangement, this what our mother was saying.</blockquote>
Tsvangirai’s widow, Elizabeth Macheka corroborated what Chamisa said. Macheka had this to say:
