The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) Friday gazetted the nomination of Dr. Frederick Shava and Dorothy Mabika to replace the late Dr. Sibusiso Moyo and Dr. Ellen Gwaradzimba respectively as Senators.
This came after the ruling Zanu-PF had submitted their names to the electoral management body.
Shava who is currently Zimbabwe’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations could not take the oath of office of Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade as his appointment had to be regularised in terms of the Constitution.
In a notice published in a Government Gazette yesterday, ZEC chairperson Justice Priscilla Chigumba said:
<blockquote>Notice of Nomination to Fill Vacancies in the Senate. The public is hereby notified, in terms of section 39(6) of the Electoral Act [Chapter 2:13], that the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front (ZANU PF) party has nominated Frederick Makamure Shava registered voter in Ward 2 of Gweru Municipality, of Plot No. 4, Umsungwe Road, Harben Park, Gweru, and Dorothy Mabika a registered voter in Ward 8 of Chipinge Central of 34, Main Street, Chipinge Town Council, to fill the vacancies in the Senate that occurred following the death of the incumbent Members of the Senate Subusiso Busi Moyo and Ellen Gwaradzimba, respectively.
Any voter wishing to object to the nomination of Frederick Makamure Shava and Dorothy Mabika may lodge them, in writing, with the Chief Elections Officer, at Mahachi Quantum Building, corner Kaguvi Street and Jason Moyo Avenue, Harare, or post them to Private Bag 7782, Causeway, within a period of 14 days from the date of publication of this notice, setting forth the reasons for the objections.</blockquote>
Shava’s appointment sparked controversy with some saying he was unfit for the post considering his involvement in the <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2021/02/09/shava-appointment-revive-willowgate-scandal-gukurahundi-discussion/">Willowgate scandal that drained the state of thousands of dollars.</a>

ZEC Gazettes Shava's Nomination To Replace SB Moyo

The newly-elected MDC T leader Douglas Mwonzora has released a statement mourning the death of Manicaland Provincial Affairs Ellen Gwaradzimba and Foreign Affairs and International Trade SB Moyo who both succumbed to COVID-19 5 days apart.
The MDC released the following statement which described Gwaradzimba as a successful academic and SB Moyo as a determined:

On behalf of the MDC T Party, my family and my own behalf, I wish to express my sincere and deep heartfelt condolences to the Moyo and Gwaradzimba families and the government of Zimbabwe at the passing on of Zimbabwe’s Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister, Retired Lt General S B Moyo and the Manicaland Provincial Affairs Minister, Dr Ellen Gwaradzimba. They both succumbed to COVID -19 related illness.
Minister Moyo was a decorated career soldier who started his career as a teenager when he left school to join the liberation war. He was part of the famous Manana Lutheran Mission High School kids who in 1976 abandoned their studies to join other liberation fighters. He later had a career in the Zimbabwe National Army before becoming our Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister in 2017. As a member of the senate, he showed determination towards peace and development.
Dr Gwaradzimba was a successful academic who at one stage was a Dean of Students at Africa University. She was a Senator in the Upper House, and as Provincial Affairs Minister she showed dedication towards the realization of the development of Manicaland Province. 
May their souls rest in eternal peace.</blockquote>

Mwonzora Mourns Gwaradzimba & SB Moyo

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has called for a united front in the fight against COVID-19 warning that the present coronavirus variant is stronger and spreads much faster and therefore there is a need for people their change their attitudes and behaviours.
President Mnangagwa was speaking at the double burial of Manicaland Provincial Affairs Minister Ellen Gwaradzimba and ZANU PF Central Committee member Morton Malianga at the National Heroes Acre in Harare this Thursday. He said:
<blockquote>Equally, the current deadly war against the evil COVID-19 pandemic facing our nation we will win as a united people.
The present COVID-19 variant is stronger and spreads much faster, hence we must be more vigilant, disciplined and shift our attitude and behaviour.
Alive to the ongoing reality, let us however not lose heart. Let us fight on and resolve to overcome.
In our organisations, communities and families, social groups and communication platforms; we must keep hope alive.
It is also paramount that we all follow the health and security protocols and procedures to contain the spread of the pandemic.</blockquote>
Gwaradzimba succumbed to COVID-19 last Friday while Malianga died after a long illness.
This was the third double burial following double burials of national heroines Victoria Chitepo and Vivian Mwashita in 2016 and George Rutanhire and Maud Muzenda in 2017.

ED Calls For A United Front Against Coronavirus

MDC Alliance president Nelson Chamisa has expressed his condolences over the passing away of several government officials and liberation war heroes in the past few days.
In his message, Chamisa noted the great sacrifices made by the fallen heroes in the liberation of Zimbabwe from the yoke of colonial bondage. Chamisa said in a tweet:
<blockquote>We note with sadness the passing on of Dr S.B.Moyo and Dr Ellen Gwaradzimba. We extend our condolences to both the Moyo and Gwarazimba families.
Our sympathies are also with comrades Mukudzei Midzi and Morton Malianga’s families, both comrades sacrificed everything to free our beloved country.</blockquote>
S.B. Moyo, who was Zimbabwe’s foreign minister and the face of a 2017 military coup that ousted Robert Mugabe as president died today aged 61.
Ellen Gwaradzimba, who was the minister of provincial affairs for Manicaland died last week and is being buried at the National Heroes Acre in Harare on Thursday.
While the government has confirmed that Moyo succumbed to COVID-19, officials have been mum on the cause of Gwaradzimba’s death though several reports claim that she also succumbed to the respiratory disease.

Chamisa Mourns SB Moyo, Gwaradzimba & Liberation War Heroes

The Children of Zimbabwe War Veterans Association Platform (COZWVA) has suggested that Zimeye editor <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Simba_Chikanza" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Simba Chikanza</a> was working for Information Minister <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Monica_Mutsvangwa" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Monica Mutsvangwa</a> when he recorded his phone call with Defence Minister <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Oppah_Muchinguri" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri</a>.
Chikanza was criticised in some media circles for being “unethical” when he misled the grieving Muchinguri-Kashiri into believing that he was also mourning the late Manicaland Provincial Affairs Minister <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Ellen_Gwaradzimba" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Ellen Gwaradzimba</a> during a phone call while he was extracting information on the COVID-19 vaccine.
In a Twitter thread, COZWVA reported a source saying Chikanza was being used by the Mutsvangas to destroy Muchinguri Kashiri’s political career as the two ZANU PF bigwigs allegedly belong to different factions. COZWVA posted:

The Mutsvangwas’ are said to be bitter over VP &amp; Min of Health Rtd Gen Chiwenga accusing of bringing the Covid 19 Vaccine from  China &amp; distributed to his inner circles.
Chikanza is overhead asking investigative and leading questions which he is said to have got from Monica [Mutsvangwa].
Zanu pf is said to be in serious factional succession fights &amp; Monica Mutsvangwa is reportedly fighting Party national Chair and Manicaland Political guru Cde Muchinguri with the bid to control the province.
According to the source, Chikanza and Mutsvangwa are close allies and this not the first time he has done this.
Last time he called VP Chiwenga and recorded the conversation with his top aide. Of late Chikanza is being accused of being used to target Rtd Gen Chiwenga and his close allies.</blockquote>

Mutsvangwa Used Journalist In Bid To Bring Down Muchinguri-Kashiri - REPORT

Authorities are reportedly working on modalities that will likely ensure the double burial of 2 National Heros Ellen Gwaradzimba and Morton Malianga who both died on 15 January, The Herald reports.
According to the publication, the possible double burial was confirmed by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage, Mr. Aaron Nhepera
Nhepera reportedly told the publication yesterday that the possible double ceremony is being planned and arrangements following recommendations given are being made. However, no final decisions have been made yet.
Gwaradzimba succumbed to COVID-19 while Malianga is said to have been unwell for some time.
This will not be the first time 2 heroes are buried at the national shrine on the same day, in 2013. Victoria Chitepo and Vivian Mwashita were buried on the same day.

President Mnangagwa has mourned the late Manicaland Provincial Affairs Minister Ellen Gwaradzimba who succumbed to COVID-19 yesterday. Describing Gwaradzimba as an admirable leader, President Mnangagwa said:
<blockquote>A freedom fighter, long-time educationist and passionate advocate for devolved development, the late Senator Gwaradzimba will be remembered for her role in wartime educational programmes during which she worked with a number of leading cadres to develop learning materials for refugees in our camps during the liberation struggle.
Indeed, she would expand her service in the educational sector after our independence, but also furthering her own studies until she attained a doctorate with Fort Hare University in South Africa.
A doughty fighter for gender equality, Dr Gwaradzimba exhibited admirable leadership when our province of Manicaland was hit by Cyclone Idai two years ago.

Manicaland Provincial Affairs Minister Ellen Gwaradzimba who is under investigation for alleged abuse of office on Tuesday told the chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Agriculture, Justice Mayor Wadyajena to restrain himself. She told him he was a disrespectful child who was big trouble to elders. She threatened to approach president Emmerson Mnangagwa to influence his dismissal as the chair of the committee. "You're A Child," Under Probe Gwaradzimba Tells Wadyajena 

The Portfolio Committee on Agriculture yesterday accused Manicaland Provincial Ellen Gwaradzimba of misleading Parliament and even threatened to charge her with contempt of parliament for reportedly providing contradicting statements to the committee, Newsday reports.
Gwaradzimba was being probed for allegedly misleading the late Lands Minister Perrance Shiri, to allocate a part of Farfell Coffee Estates to her son Remembrance Mbudzana, and the Justice Wadyajena committee is alleging that Gwaradzimba’s son was allocated the farm based on false information.
Gwaradzimba reportedly brought a dossier to the parliament claiming it is hers but later on admitted it was prepared for her son.
During the probe. Wadyajena then accused her of misleading the court and threatened to charge her with contempt of parliament:
<blockquote>What you are saying and what we have from this document is inconsistent. The document that you now say was prepared by Mbudzana although you gave it to us as yours, shows that he never applied for land in 2014 like you indicated.
I think I have to recuse myself because this committee must charge you for misleading us and I don’t want to be doing it myself…it must come from the committee.
Minister, you are making our lives difficult. We want evidence that the provincial lands committee met to offer the land to Mbudzana, not media reports. I am adjourning this committee out of respect to allow you to go back to Manicaland and come back with evidence.</blockquote>
However, Gwaradzimba who is being accused of lying that the Manicaland provincial lands committee recommended her son’s land grab when in fact the committee had not met stood her ground and said:
<blockquote>I did not mislead you; this is exactly what he (Shiri) advised me to do. Mind you, I was still very new in the office and I was not yet familiar with procedures, so this is what he told me, to write a recommendation letter and forward the necessary documentation.</blockquote>
Gwaradzimba <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2020/10/21/watch-i-fought-for-this-country-leave-me-alone-minister-gwaradzimba-on-farm-invasion-probe/">still maintains that she did nothing wrong because she followed Perrance Shiri’s orders</a> and even made several remarks about her having fought for the country during the probe.

Manicaland Provincial Affairs Minister Ellen Gwaradzimba who is accused of grabbing a part of a Chipinge farm Farfell Coffee Estates and gifting it to her son is seen in the following video seemingly defending her actions and saying the media made a huge deal out of it but she did nothing wrong because the late lands minister Perrance Shiri gave her permission to invade the farm.
Gwaradzimba is heard saying the person probing( Parliamentary Committee led by Justice Wadyajena) her should leave her alone and she made reference numerous times to the fact that she was part of the liberators that liberated this country from colonialists.

Manicaland Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Dr Ellen Gwaradzimba has applauded the President Mnangagwa led administration for showing “true leadership” after the government mobilised and distributed COVID-19 equipment to Manicaland residents.
Gwaradzimba’s remarks resonated with those of the Minister of Defense and War Veterans Affairs, and Vice-Chairperson of the Covid-19 National Taskforce, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri who said the support is testimony that government continues to give priority to the health of its citizens.
Speaking at the distribution of the aid in Mutasa District this Saturday, Gwaradzimba said:
<blockquote>We thank the President and the National Chair for mobilising sanitizers, face masks and food in the face of Covid-19. Surely this is evidence of quality leadership.</blockquote>
This comes amid allegations that the ruling ZANU PF is using aid to manipulate the vulnerable and desperate electorate.
Speaking at the event, Muchinguri-Kashiri reminded the people that the war against coronavirus is still on hence the need to comply with precautionary measures and regulations announced by Government and health officials.
Zimbabwe, as of 13 June 2020, had 356 confirmed coronavirus cases, including 54 recoveries and four (4) deaths. The number of infections in the country has of late been increasing exponentially and most of the newest cases are returnees mainly from neighbouring South Africa.

Manicaland Provincial Affairs Minister Ellen Gwaradzimba said that people who run away from quarantine centres should be treated as criminals because they risk the health of other people.
Gwaradzaimba made the comments after three inmates escaped from Marymount Teachers College quarantine centre in Mutare and attempted to illegally enter Mozambique again for shopping.
The three were intercepted by Mozambican authorities and brought back. One of the escapees was arrested while the other two are still at large.
Speaking on the sidelines of a recent COVID-19 Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) donation handover by Econet Wireless Group to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital, Gwaradzimba said:
<blockquote>The danger is if the returnees escape, they are going to join their families and interact with some members of the public and pose danger not just to people of Manicaland and their families but to the whole people of Zimbabwe.
To us, we regard these people as criminal elements who are selfish because they are thinking of making money while disregarding the health and safety of the rest of the population.
For real, the law is not going to be kind with such people who run away from quarantine centres because they are supposed to be tested so that their status is known. If they test positive, they are sent to isolation and treatment centres.</blockquote>
Zimbabwe has recorded 174 coronavirus cases and most of them were returnees mainly from South Africa and Botswana.
However, over one hundred people have escaped from different quarantine centres across the country before they are tested and the majority of the escapees are still at large.

The government will compensate 300 farmers from <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Manicaland_Province" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Manicaland Province</a> whose produce was confiscated and destroyed by <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Mutare" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Mutare</a> city’s health department at the Sakubva vegetable market last week.
This was revealed by Manicaland COVID-19 Taskforce chairperson <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Ellen_Gwaradzimba" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Ellen Gwaradzimba</a>, who said all the affected farmers would receive part of the $600 million being extended to small businesses, vendors and the elderly. Said Gwaradzimba:
<blockquote>The incident that happened at Sakubva market was unfortunate, especially given that we had come up with modalities on how people could continue to trade, but in an organised fashion under the watch of our forces to ensure adherence to issues of hygiene and social distancing.
The fact that they all ran means they were aware that they were violating the conditions of the lockdown.</blockquote>
About 3 tonnes of vegetables were destroyed when farmers sneaked into the market at night in violation of lockdown restrictions.
Following the government’s decision to compensate the affected farmers, only 14 have come forward and submitted their names.

Govt To Compensate Farmers Whose Produce Was Burnt In Mutare

<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Mutare_Provincial_Hospital" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Mutare Provincial Hospital</a> is set to undergo urgent repair works ahead of a visit by Indian surgeons next week.
The government has embarked on a fundraising programme to replace out of date equipment at the hospital as well as improve the stocks of drugs, among other hospital requirements.
In an interview with ZBC News, Minister of State for <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Manicaland_Province" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Manicaland Province</a> and Devolution, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Ellen_Gwaradzimba" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Ellen Gwaradzimba</a>, who is the head of the fundraising team, said they have so far registered some progress. She said:
<blockquote>We are doing some preparations for a team of specialist doctors who are coming from India. We have made some strides in terms of resource mobilisation.
We had a number of our facilities that require attention with National Oil Infrastructure Company (NOIC) pledging to attend to elevators that are out of order.
NOIC also offered ZWL$105 000 to provide for the ventilator which is a critical component of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Tanga company pledged ZWL$48 000 to repair the existing autoclaving machine while Petrozim donated for drugs.</blockquote>
The Indian team will be in Zimbabwe from 26 February to 7 March 2020 and is expected to focus on general, plastic, orthopaedic, dermatology and urology surgeries, among others.

Indian Medical Team To Visit Mutare Provincial Hospital

<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Manicaland_Province" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Manicaland</a> Provincial Affairs Minister <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Ellen_Gwaradzimba" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Ellen Gwaradzimba</a> said that the government will soon roll out an operation to evict people who illegally settled on timber plantations in <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Chimanimani" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Chimanimani</a> and other parts of the province.
Gwaradzimba revealed this during the commissioning of new machinery acquired by Allied Timbers at Erin Forest Plantation on Wednesday. She said:
<blockquote>We were given the mandate [by President Emmerson Mnangagwa] to flush out all illegal settlers. We should remember that plantations are a sensitive area.
We will soon roll out ‘Operation Dzoka Kwawakabva’ and I am warning people illegally settled in plantations to pack their belongings and go back to their roots.</blockquote>
Gwaradzimba said the illegal settlers should not plant crops this coming rainy season as they will be evicted before harvesting.
She added that if the settlers fail to move out voluntarily, the government will be left with no choice but to use force to drive them out.

Govt To Launch "Operation Dzoka Kwawakabva" In Manicaland

The government has urged Manicaland residents to avoid streets protests called for by the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) for this Thursday.
Speaking to reporters in Mutare on Wednesday, Manicaland Provincial Affairs Minister Ellen Gwaradzimba told residents that the government is implementing several projects to improve their lives. She said:
<blockquote>I am appealing to the people of Manicaland to remain calm, composed, and disciplined in the face of loud calls by the MDC-A and their sponsors to go into the streets and demonstrate against the democratically elected Government.
The province is already implementing the plans to address the hardships caused by the Cyclone Idai disaster and is currently undertaking the reconstruction of permanent road works and bridges including other big developmental projects such as Sakubva Urban Renewal, Gemmology Centre, road network construction, irrigation development, to mention just a few.
These projects have already been approved by the Government.</blockquote>

Mutare Residents Told To Shun MDC Demo

ZANU PF officials in Manicaland province declared that civil servants are ZANU PF deployees and should not claim to be apolitical.
Addressing a Zanu PF Manicaland provincial co-ordination committee meeting in Mutare on Friday, Manicaland Provincial Affairs minister Ellen Gwaradzimba said that he had to teach civil servants how to chant ZANU PF slogans. She said:
<blockquote>Sorry, I am late because I was teaching government workers party slogans.
I told them that they should do party slogans because they are serving a government led by Zanu PF. I am grooming them to do party slogans.
I told them that if they let us down, they will decampaigning Zanu PF.</blockquote>
Meanwhile, speaking at the same event, ZANU PF Manicaland provincial chairperson Mike Madiro insisted that civil servants are government deployees. He said:
<blockquote>This meeting is a Zanu PF platform, we won elections and we have been winning elections. When we won the elections we had a manifesto we sold to the people of Zimbabwe, so these government workers have an agenda to implement Zanu PF policies and as a party, we are there to supervise.
No government worker should say no and no one should say I am apolitical, if there is someone like that then he or she is in the wrong place, but as a ruling party, we are not giving orders. Those in government are deployees of the party.</blockquote>

Civil Servants Should Chant ZANU PF Slogans - Gwaradzimba

The government has blocked Manicaland Provincial Affairs Minister Ellen Gwaradzimba’s son Remembrance Mbudzana, from taking over part of a white farmer’s coffee estate.
Sometime in January this year, the Ministry of Lands offered Mbudzana a portion of the estate (Lot 1) under Farfell Coffee Estates which is owned by Chipinge farmer Richard Le Vieux.
While the dispute between Mbudzana and Le Vieux has spilt to the courts, the government through acting Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement Oppah Muchinguri announced that Mbudzana’s offer letter has been revoked. Moreover, Le Vieux has been guaranteed of continued tenure of the farm. Said Muchinguri:
<blockquote>After taking all factors into consideration, Cabinet resolved and directed as follows (a) that Mr Le Vieux be issued with an offer letter for his portion of Farfell Coffee Estates, that is Lot 2 (220 hectares) in keeping with the Government framework of maximum farm sizes (b) that if he so wishes, Mr Le Vieux be issued with an appropriate lease agreement with respect to Lot 1, so as to guarantee continuity of the very productive and strategic commercial operations currently taking place at Lot 1; (c) that the offer letter of Lot 1 (229 hectares) to Mr Mbudzana be consequently revoked; and (d) that as, any Zimbabwean, Mr Mbudzana can be considered for land allocation in other available areas in Chipinge District.</blockquote>

Minister's Son Blocked From Grabbing Lush Coffee Estate

Minister of State for Manicaland Province Ellen Gwaradzimba is convinced that the Premier Soccer League (PSL) is sabotaging the province after it decided against Rusape’s Vengere Stadium hosting elite matches.
Gwarazimba’s venom was directed at the PSL Chief Executive Officer, Kenny Ndebele who she accused of unilaterally making the decision.
Gwarazimba, who is the patron of Mutare based Manica Diamonds FC, said:
<blockquote>I do not know what he (Ndebele) is trying to prove. He is sabotaging the team and this is no longer football. Maybe he has other motives other than football.
This is sabotage. I am going to Harare and I want to get to the bottom of this. I will meet the relevant authorities regarding this issue.
The whole province cannot suffer because of one person. I don’t understand what he is talking about in terms of the ground’s preparedness.
How can one person overturn a decision made by a committee that went on the ground to inspect the stadium? This is totally unfair.</blockquote>
On May 14, the Zimbabwe Football Association wrote to Rusape Town Council and Kenny Ndebele notifying them of the approval of the stadium.
However, in response, Ndebele wrote that the stadium is not fit to be used for PSL matches. The letter reads in part:
<blockquote>We are concerned about the state of the playing surface which is uneven and the surface below and around the western goal area is bumpy and uneven.
The available doping and first aid room were noted to be far and outside of the dressing rooms area and not fully equipped with all the necessary medical equipment.
Manica Diamonds FC is currently using Gibbo Stadium in Triangle as its home ground.</blockquote>

Minister Fumes At Football Boss Over Condemned Stadium

Top government officials have reportedly intervened in a farm dispute involving a retired Swiss banker Richard Le Vieux and one Remembrance Mbudzana, son the Manicaland Provincial Affairs minister Ellen Gwaradzimba.
Mbudzana dragged Le Vieux to court, accusing him of failure to vacate part of Farfell Coffee Estates, which the former claims was granted to him by the Lands Ministry.
After the matter was heard in the chambers on Wednesday before Chipinge magistrate Farai Gwitima, Le Veux’s lawyer Norman Mugiya, in his address before the media, said:
<blockquote>The matter has been deferred to June 28, 2019, as the provisional date or interim date. One of the reasons is that the State papers are not in order.
There are serious legal challenges we raised and the State said that they are going to address the matter.
The other issue is that there are negotiations at the highest level of government. I am sure on the next date this matter will be deposed off.</blockquote>
Mbudzana claims that he was in January this year allocated Lot 1 Farfell Coffee Estate by the Lands ministry. He said:
<blockquote>I know the accused person, namely Richard Le Vieux as a director of Farfell Coffee Estate referred to as the first accused person.
On January 10, 2019, I successfully applied for A2 model resettlement and I was allocated land by the acquiring authority of Lot 1 Farfell Coffee Estate, Chipinge, measuring 229,4 hectares through an offer letter.
I immediately approached the provincial lands officers, who took me to the said land. I was shown the boundaries of the farm physically against a respective map which I also now see before the court as an exhibit.</blockquote>
Observers have questioned why Mbudzana was offered land after his application in January this year while thousands of people have been on the waiting list for a long time.
Further, the farm is renowned for exporting coffee, avocados among other products to Europe and America, bringing in the much-needed foreign currency.
Commentators have suggested that it would be prudent to allocate Mbudzana vacant land lying idle.

Villagers in Penhalonga are up in arms with Manicaland Provincial Affairs minister Ellen Gwaradzimba whom they accuse of using her political muscle to try to evict them from the land where they have been living for decades.
The 350 families live at Zengeni farm in Mutasa district which is reportedly being coveted by the Minister.
Gwaradzimba reportedly intends to extend her farm boundary to incorporate the land occupied by the 350 families. In a letter written to Mutasa South MP Regai Tsunga pleading for his intervention, the villages said:
<blockquote>We as affected families of Zengeni village (350 families) humbly request your urgent assistance concerning our plight as mentioned above.
Our main concern is our chieftainship of which we have always applied to our district administrator, Ministry of Lands and to the provincial administrator to no avail.
Recently we were issued with eviction papers without the due process of a court . . . As the Member of Parliament for this constituency, your help will be of great importance.
… This is not a laughing or political matter. We are aware that there are some few individuals who did not come today because they are saying that it’s a political matter.
Minister Gwaradzimba wants to extend her farm. There is one man called Mahachi who is also eyeing to grab the land. We have been told that we are likely to be evicted to Nyamukwakwa village near Honde Valley and the Mozambican border.</blockquote>
Meanwhile, Tsunga met Gwarazimba where he made supplication on behalf of the villagers. He expressed hope that the Minister would be considerate towards the Zengeni villagers.
Newsday has a copy of the letter from the Ministry of Lands dated March 12, 2019, directed to headman Zengeni.
The letter gave the villagers seven days to vacate Zengeni Farm claiming they were violating the Gazetted Land Act.

Minister Chases 350 Families From Farm In Penhalonga

The Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe (GMAZ) has donated foodstuffs towards the launch of a feeding scheme next term for schools in areas affected by Tropical Cyclone Idai.
The scheme will cover districts in Mashonaland East, Masvingo and Manicaland provinces.
Speaking during the handover of several foodstuffs worth $250 000 on Saturday to the Minister of State for Manicaland province Ellen Gwaradzimba, GMAZ chairperson Tfadzwa Musarara said:
<blockquote>The scheme will target the most affected schools and we will work with our government which will help us to identify the needy areas.
We understand that most schools in Chimanimani and Chipinge were ravaged by Cyclone Idai. So the government will help us with the assessment.
Beneficiaries will be given porridge and Maheu in the morning and maize meal and beans in the afternoon.
… Most importantly, this scheme will help encourage attendances in schools. Some schools are remotely located and there is a lot of walking to and from and we felt that as businesses, moreso indigenous who have been enabled and empowered by the government in the food sector, it’s our responsibility to take a step forward.</blockquote>
Musarara said that his organisation had more to give towards the feeding scheme but will stand guided by the government on the way forward.
Minister Gwaradzimba said that the assistance will go a long way in restoring the lives of thousands of people affected by the cyclone.
