Music producer Arnold Kamudyariwa, better known as DJ Fantan has approached the Harare Civil Court seeking access to his two minor children who are in the custody of his ex-wife Gamuchirai Nemukuyu.
DJ Fantan and Gamuchirai are scheduled to appear at the Civil Court on 27 February to settle custody of their children.
In his application, DJ Fantan accused Gamu of denying him access to his kids.
Speaking to <a href="https://www.hmetro.co.zw/dj-fantan-wants-access-to-his-kids/">H-Metro</a>, Gamu confirmed receiving the summons and claimed DJ Fantan is not yet ready to allow her to move on with her life. She said:

Yes, I received a summon to attend court.
He is always here and on one of the days, he clashed with my lover.
Anogara achiuya kwandiri achiti ndaunzira vana malollipop, adaro okumbira kuwana nguva neni.
Kana achida zvebarika ngaabude pachena.
He must give me space, and allow me to move on since he decided to divorce me for another woman.
He is disturbing my love affair with my man and, as for the kids, check his social media pages and you will see his photographs with the kids.
He has time to apply for the custody of children he does not want to acquire birth certificates for.

In 2022, Gamuchirai had DJ Fantan arrested after he allegedly broke her pots and pans and soaked their bedroom and children’s blankets in a bathtub.
The State later withdrew domestic violence charges against the music producer before a plea after Gamuchirayi deposed an affidavit stating that she was no longer pursuing the matter.
She had testified under oath that she understood her action and that she decided to withdraw the case.
In her initial complaint, Nemukuyu had accused DJ Fantan of breaking teapots, wine glasses, dishes and jugs that had a value of US$250.
The incident allegedly occurred on Monday 2 May 20222 between 6.30 PM and 7.20 PM and was recorded at the police station the following day on Tuesday, 3 May 2022 at 9.02 AM.

DJ Fantan, Ex-wife In Court Over The Custody Of Their Children

Music producer Arnold Kamudyariwa, popularly known as <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/DJ_Fantan">DJ Fantan</a>, and Zimdancehall musician <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Silent_Killer">Silent Killer</a>, whose real name is Jimmy Mudereri, are now working together again after their acrimonious fallout last year.
Fantan and Silent Killer were at loggerheads since last year after the latter assaulted Fantan’s younger brother, Tinashe Kamudyariwa, over an undisclosed issue.
Tinashe was admitted to the hospital after the bashing, while Silent Killer was later cleared of the charges.
Silent Killer was subsequently banished from Chillspot Records, which is co-owned by DJ Fantan.
Fantan recently confirmed to <a href="https://www.sundaymail.co.zw/fantan-silent-killer-bury-the-hatchet">The Sunday Mail</a> that the two are working together again. He said:

We cannot allow the past to negatively affect our future. What happened between me and Silent Killer a year ago is now water under the bridge.
He will feature on our new riddim, which is set to be released at the weekend.

On his part, Silent Killer said:

Fantan is my mentor and role model, whom I am proud to be working with.

DJ Fantan, Silent Killer Working Together Again

Zimdancehall artiste, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Ricky_Fire">Ricky Fire</a>, whose real name is Tulani Takavada, has accused music producer and promoter <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/DJ_Fantan">DJ Fantan</a> of hypocrisy.
This comes after the Chillspot Records co-proprietor claimed that Winky D “used” young musicians whom he mentored on his latest album to propagate a political message before dumping them.
Posting on his Facebook page, Ricky Fire said DJ Fantan does not have the moral authority to claim that Winky D dragged young musicians into politics saying it was indeed the music producer who made young artistes sing at political events, presumably ZANU PF political rallies. Said Ricky Fire:

Music producer and promoter DJ Fantan, whose real name is Arnold Kamudyariwa has accused Winky D of throwing young musicians under the bus by allegedly using them on his latest album to propagate a political message and then dumping them.
Winky D recently released a new album titled “Eureka” on which he collaborated with several young artistes, among them Holy Ten on the song “Ibotso”.
Holy Ten has since said he regrets collaborating with Winky on the song which he said has been politicised.

Shashl, whose real name is Ashleigh, is the daughter of the former health minister, Obadiah Moyo.

DJ Levels "Missing" After Sex Tape Leaks

DJ Fantan’s estranged wife, Gamuchirayi Nemukuyu, was last week evicted from her rented house in Houghton Park after the Chillspot Records proprietor abandoned her for another woman.
Nemukuyu told H-Metro that the landlady visited her on Thursday and ordered her to pack her belongings and leave. She said:

My landlady came today and forced me to move out. I do not know why the landlady gave Fantan the eviction notice four months ago and did not tell me.
She is aware that Fantan moved out of the house and I even discussed this with her.
I was told that I am supposed to move out at the end of this month, and I haven’t looked for another place.
It’s been six months since things went sour between me and Fantan, and ever since, he hasn’t taken care of his children.
He doesn’t send money or pay rent, forcing me to sell half of my property to take care of my children.
I would rather die and leave him with the children than watch them suffer. Ndobva pamba pacho and go where since he changed ownership of our Chitungwiza house into his name?
We built the house together, but he is now the sole owner.

Nemukuyu added that she has nowhere to go as she did not have money for her upkeep. She said:

All I ask is for Fantan to take care of his children and provide for them.

DJ Fantan's Estranged Wife Evicted From Rented Home

DJ Fantan, whose real name is Arnold Kamudyariwa, has separated from his wife, Gamuchirayi Nemukuyu, after she was involved in a street fight with a woman, Vimbai, she claims is dating the Zimdancehall music producer.
Gamu has engaged Harare lawyer Milton Serima, who will negotiate for their peaceful separation, upkeep of their two minor children and sharing of property.
Speaking in an interview with H-Metro, Gamu claimed that one of their children missed school for four months after DJ Fantan failed to pay fees to a pre-school the kid attends. She said:

I have engaged a lawyer to seek legal guidance on support for the children and property sharing with DJ Fantan and we are meeting tomorrow (Friday).
Relatives tried in vain to persuade Fantan to provide food for his children.

He pretended to be a good person to my relatives who also persuaded me to withdraw the charges, but God is for us all.
Fantan is aware that my mother was arrested and is languishing in prison in South Africa and he never helped me in fighting for her freedom.
He wants to see me starving, as well as his children just to please his lover, my tears will never dry.

DJ Fantan, real name Arnold Kamudyariwa, was set to appear in court on Thursday, 12 May, to face domestic violence charges.
Fantan was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly assaulting his wife, Gamuchirai Nemukunyu.
The Chillspot Records co-director was detained at Waterfalls Police Station for the better part of Tuesday night before he was later released into the custody of his lawyer.
However, in a Facebook post on Wednesday morning, Fantan scoffed at reports of his arrest and accused H-Metro of seeking relevancy by publishing “falsehoods”.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, on Wednesday confirmed that Fantan was arrested and detained. Said Nyathi:

DJ Fantan was arrested under case number CR53/05/22 at Waterfalls Police Station.
He was arrested, detained and released later so that he appears in court (from home).
I have seen DJ Fantan on social media claiming the H-Metro story is fake. He said he was never arrested and some people believed that.

DJ Fantan was arrested and was in police cells yesterday (Tuesday) where he was detained. He was only released later.
People want to use social media for the wrong reasons. I have seen them on social media attacking H-Metro claiming that there is no such case after DJ Fantan claims.
They should not attack H-Metro for publishing the truth.

DJ Fantan Abused Social Media - Police

<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Emmerson_Mnangagwa_Junior">Emmerson Mnangagwa Junior</a> donated blankets and groceries to Matapi residents, a gesture that freelance journalist <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Hopewell_Chin%27ono">Hopewell Chin’ono</a> says would be unnecessary if the economy was not collapsed.
According to music producer <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/DJ_Fantan">DJ Fantan</a>, the president’s son visited “<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Chillspot_Records">Chillspot recordz</a> simply to find out how the studio operates,” and then decided to donate to the community and the disabled.
<a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/DJ_Fantan_Arrest">Fantan</a> adds that Mnangagwa donated groceries and blankets which have been distributed through Fantan’s studios, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Chillspot_Records">Chillspot recordz</a>. He added:

This act of goodwill has touched the Hearts of residents who have been struggling to make ends meet during this time of the covid-19 pandemic.

Fantan’s post attracted criticism from Chin’ono who said donations were not sustainable. Chin’ono also suggested that the first family had caused the suffering of the general populace and was now making donations expecting the public to be grateful. <a href="https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2141899762628298&amp;id=966546716830281&amp;refid=52&amp;__tn__=H-R">He said in response:</a>

Zimbabweans don’t want donations Fantan, they want an economy that works so that they can buy whatever they want for themselves!

Are you going to get all that donated too?
You can’t rob through looting from public funds and then expect your victims to be thankful when you drop crumps, cheap blankets!
Have some respect for your people and fight for them to own their lives and not be beggars and recipients of cheap and insulting donations!
Get your new friend to ask his father to fix the economy by stopping corruption so that the young people in Mbare can look after themselves!

Chin'ono Responds To Emmerson Mnangagwa Junior's Donation To Mbare Residents

Popular entertainers DJ Fantan and Levels who were <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2021/01/21/just-in-djs-fantan-levelz-dammer-granted-bail/">recently granted bail pending appeal</a> following their convictions after hosting a New Year bash in Mbare on year’s eve have issued an apology to the public for their crime.
Below is the full text of the public apology published by Levels and DJ Fantan:
<blockquote>PUBLIC APOLOGY BY DJ FANTAN &amp; LEVELS
WE (DJ FANTAN &amp; LEVELS) come before you fellow Zimbabweans with a great sense of humility, shame and regret. WE UNRESERVEDLY AND WHOLE HEARTEDLY APOLOGIZE to the Government of Zimbabwe, all stakeholders; the nation at large, the Mbare community, our family members, friends, legion of followers/fans across the country and beyond our borders for violating the Public Health (Covid-19 Prevention and Containment) regulations when we participated in an unsanctioned music gig on new year’s eve.
WE apologized before in court, continue to do so unreservedly and whole heartedly. In court, we readily pleaded guilty to the charges as a sign of our genuine remorse and contrition. WE sincerely regret our irresponsible, unlawful conduct and accept that we FAILED all of you. Many young people across the country, especially ghetto youths, look up to us as their role models but our conduct was far from being exemplary.
WE humbly ask that you all find it in your hearts to forgive us for what we did. To err is human but to forgive is divine. WE have since gone through the processes of arrest, incarceration, been convicted and have spent some time in jail after we were sentenced; all of which has brought shame on us, our families, friends and great disappointment to our fans/followers.

Judgment has reportedly been reserved in the bail pending appeal application case of popular music promoters DJ Fantan (real name Arnold Kamudyariwa ) and Levels (real name Rodger Tafadzwa Kadzimwe).
This was revealed by ZTN in an update that stated that:
<blockquote>High Court Judge justice Davison Foroma has reserved judgment in the bail application by organisers of the Mbare New Year Eve gig- Dammar, DJ Fantan and DJ Levelz.</blockquote>
The duo including another promoter named Dammar was jailed for 12 months before 6 months were suspended after they hosted a New Year bash in Mbare against the government’s restrictions against public gatherings.

Judgement Reserved In DJ Fantan And Levels' Bail Pending Appeal Application

The mother of jailed Chillspot Records founder and Zimdancehall producer Arnold Kamudyariwa, popularly known as DJ Fantan, said she will not stop crying until authorities release her son.
Speaking in an interview with Standard Style last week, Fantan’s mother, Lorine Akende said the courts made a very unfair judgement considering that her son and his co-accused were first-time offenders. She said:
<blockquote>They do not have any criminal record and it is Dhama who organised the bash together with the police. I won’t stop crying until they free my son.</blockquote>
Fantan’s grandmother, who requested anonymity, said they were surprised with the custodial sentence imposed on the DJ and his accomplices as they were first-time offenders. She said:
<blockquote>We did not see it coming because this can’t be a crime that deserves jail sentencing. They were supposed to be slapped with fines and community service.</blockquote>
DJ Fantan, Tafadzwa “DJ Levels” Kadzimwe and Simbarashe “Dhama” Chanachimwe will serve effective six-month jail terms each for violating COVID-19 lockdown regulations after organising a New Year’s Eve bash that was attended by hundreds of people in Mbare.

DJ Fantan's Mother 'Won't Stop Crying'

Zimbabwean journalist, Hopewell Chin’ono has criticised the government for its “double standards” after organisers of Mbare New Year Eve gala were sentenced to spend 6 effective months in prison.
The organisers, Dhama, DJs Fantan and Levels were arrested and convicted of violating COVID-19 regulations. Chin’ono said the government should also have arrested Kuda Tagwirei since he had a party on the same day. He said:
<blockquote>They were wrong because they endangered the lives of thousands of citizens by holding a Covid-19 super-spreader event!
However, the law must be applied evenly without fear or favour.
We posted and also saw videos of Tagwirei and his crew hosting a New Year’s Eve event without masks, and nothing has been done.
Dreams night club DJs posted videos with their club packed to the brim, and again nothing has happened to them!
The MDC-T had a while Congress with thousands of delegates, we made noise about it, nothing happened to them.
So it seems like the law only applies to those who are from poor neighborhoods, and not to the well connected and powerful.
This will further increase the mistrust that ghetto youths have towards the police, because they only act when it involves township folks, and not when it involves northern suburb folks.
Justice and the Rule of Law should be for all, and not selectively applied!</blockquote>
His remarks were echoed by many on social media who also observed that maskless government officials who attended Minister Monica Mutsvangwa’s birthday bash were never arrested.
It is also reported that a number of prominent people across the country hosted parties on the day in question but nothing was done about it.
Meanwhile, Chilspot has issued a statement saying the sentence on the trio was too harsh.

Fantan, Levels Detention: Chin'ono Bemoans Govt's Double Standards

The Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports, Arts, And Recreation  Tinoda Machakaire has commented on the imprisonment of DJ Fantan and levels of Chillspot Recordz. Machakaire said the law took its cause but he wished the court had been lenient with the duo considering the fact that they did not deny their wrongdoing. DJ Fantan and Levels were sentenced to 12 months in prison for hosting the New Year bash in Mbare against the government’s directive against public gatherings.

My Wish Would Have Been For A Lenient Sentence - Deputy Arts Minister On Fantan And Levels  Imprisonment

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has suspended four senior police officers from police duties for failing to stop <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Mbare_New_Year%27s_Eve_Party" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">the Mbare New Year’s Eve music concer</a>t hosted by DJ Fantan.
The four are Superintendent Innocent Makumbe, Inspector Garikai Jiyane [Officer in Charge, Matapi], Inspector Peace Nyarai Gunhe [Duty Officer] and Assistant Inspector Vengai Mupamhanga [Duty Member].
In a statement on Monday, police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the four have been suspended from duty by the Commissioner-General of Police Godwin Matanga pending disciplinary action. The statement read:

On Saturday, Nyathi said police were keen on interviewing DJ Fantan over the gig which was held in violation of the curfew order and coronavirus regulations. It has not yet been confirmed if Fantan, who was reportedly on the run, has surrendered himself to police.

Four Senior Cops Suspended Over DJ Fantan's New Year's Eve Bash

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has said two hundred teenagers were arrested in Westgate Harare over New Year parties.
The police tweeted fourteen hours ago:
<blockquote>Breaking news The ZRP has arrested 200 teenagers who were having a party at number 344 Mukwa Drive, Westgate, Harare, in open contravention of the Government’s COVID-19 regulations. Some of the teenagers are dead drunk. More details to follow.</blockquote>
The tweet triggered varying responses with some pointing out the police’s double standards after it emerged that there was a New Year eve party in Mbare that was attended by thousands of revellers.
Some said authorities should have prevented it since the event had been advertised through flyers.
Meanwhile, police say about 52 people have been arrested in connection with the event while some of the organisers are reportedly on the run.
Some said authorities should not “pack prisons with people in places without any water or sanitizers. You’ll expose yourself to the virus”, adding that they should work with the Ministry of Health and Child Care for community testing and get people to isolate.
There has been complacency in Zimbabwe despite the surge in coronavirus cases in the Southern African country lately.

ZRP: 200 Teenagers Arrested Over New Year Parties

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said that fifty-two people have been arrested over the illegal Mbare New Year’s music concert.
Speaking to ZBC News, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said police are looking for music producer, DJ, and manager at Chill Spot Records, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/DJ_Fantan" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Fantan</a>, real name Arnold Kamudyariwa, who is believed to be on the run. He said:
<blockquote>We are conducting investigations and so far indications are that 52 people were arrested when police moved in to stop this bash, and we are told Fantan has a studio in Mbare where he puts speakers outside and plays music. He is now on the run. Police are currently looking for him.
We want to assure the public that definitely, action will be taken. We are also conducting investigations to find out what really the police officers on the ground did… what role they played.</blockquote>
This comes after pictures and videos from the New Year’s Eve bash surfaced on social media platforms on Friday.
The government was roundly criticised for allowing a “coronavirus superspreader” event to take place at a time when there is a surge in new infections and hospitals were reportedly full of COVID-19 patients.

DJ Fantan On The Run After 'Hosting' Corona Superspreader Music Concert

Chill Spot’s DJ Fantan announced on Facebook that he is now a father after he welcomed a baby daughter named Rufaro.
Said DJ Fantan:
<blockquote>I am really excited about becoming a father. She’s my first child and what a joy it is.</blockquote>
When pressed to comment about fatherhood, he said:
<blockquote>For me it means more responsibility and my wife and I are happy to be parents. She was born at a private maternity hospital in Sunningdale. Having a baby was long overdue.”</blockquote>
DJ Fantan (30) is married to Gamuchirai Nemukuyu.
