<p>Earlier today we reported that “five people are reported to have died on the spot whilst a huge number of others sustained serious injuries in a road accident that occurred at the intersection of Harare Drive and Borrowdale road robots this morning.”</p>
<p>The reports have been confirmed by the Herald which reported that five people died this morning while 11 others were injured when a haulage truck collided with a pick-up truck at the intersection of Borrowdale Road and Harare Drive.</p>
<p>The report was also corroborated by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) who issued a statement on Twitter saying that the accident occurred after the two drivers failed to give way to each at the intersection. The police statement read:</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>The ZRP confirms that five died and 11 others were injured at the intersection of Borrowdale Road and Harare Drive at 0630hrs today. A haulage truck which was travelling along Harare Drive due east collided with a Mazda pick-up truck which was travelling along Borrowdale road towards Domboshava.</strong></p>
<p><strong>The traffic lights were not functional at the time of the road traffic accident as parties failed to give way to each other. Motorists should be cautious and give due regard to road safety on approaching traffic lights which are not functional.</strong></p></blockquote>

<p>The Highlanders’ Gaffer tested his first defeat since he joined the team a couple of weeks ago. Hendrick de Jongh blamed the defeat on his players’ industrial action and said:</p>
<blockquote><p>We went into the match with no focus and no positional discipline and in football everything starts with focus but we lacked that. I blame all this on the strike that we faced with players. We did not train for three days because the players were protesting against the delayed payment of their November salaries.</p>

<p>The bridge was still under construction according to the publication. The incident was confirmed by Rushinga MP Tendai Nyabani who said:</p>

<p>Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has likened Zimbabwe’s situation to that of the Israelites who travelled for 40 years from Egypt to Canaan.</p>
<p>He said the Israeli people could have travelled for only six days but delayed. Chiwenga added that no situation was permanent saying that the Zimbabwean situation can be solved.</p>

WATCH: VP Chiwenga Likens Zimbabwe 1980-2020 To Israelites' Journey From Egypt

<p>One hundred and thirty-five victims of Gukurahundi and political violence have been repatriated from a refugee camp in Botswana.</p>
<p>The returnees are part of more than 700 Zimbabweans who skipped the country’s borders during former President Mugabe’s era to live at Dukwe Refugee Camp, about 120km from Francistown in Botswana.</p>
<p>A source privy to the matter told the News Day that the returnees were already on their way to Zimbabwe. The source said:</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>We don’t call them refugees, but returnees. They have not yet arrived, but are on their way. We are waiting for them at the border as we speak.</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>It is estimated that about 20 000 people were killed in Matebeleland and Midlands during the Gukurahundi massacres which the government launched on the aftermath of independence.</p>
<p>Many other Zimbabweans are in exile following political violence which grounded the country since independence.</p>

<p>The Department of Civil Protection has warned members of the public about floods expected in some parts of the country.</p>
<p>We present below the Department’s press release in full.</p>

Department Of Civil Protection Warns Of Floods

<p>The exiled former Minister’s much-hyped book about how he claims elections were rigged last year will be launched simultaneously in Harare, South Africa, the US and the EU the Standard reports.</p>
<p>According to the book,</p>
<blockquote><p>All told, it is clear from the foregoing that the military had a rigging conspiracy or that it colluded with (the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission) Zec through (chairperson Priscilla) Chigumba and the (Constitutional Court) ConCourt via (Chief Justice Luke) Malaba,” reads an extract from the book.</p>
<p>Results for the presidential and the National Assembly elections were transmitted using different routes from the ward collation centre.</p>
<p>While the destination for the National Assembly election results was the constituency centre, the presidential results were forwarded to the district centre for onward transmission to the national command centre in Harare</p></blockquote>
<p>The exiled politician has always maintained that the election was rigged and his book will shed more light on his claims.</p>

<p>ZUPCO Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mr Everesto Madangwa, has revealed the company’s plans to introduce a pre-booking system for inner-city routes.</p>
<p>Speaking to the Herald when the company is expecting another batch of an unquantified number of buses to arrive next month from  China and South Africa, Madangwa said:</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>We are working on modalities to introduce a pre-booking system for inter-city routes for the convenience of travellers…<br/>
</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>As it stands, passengers pay when boarding with either cash or tap cards which have to be loaded before coming to the bus. The new system would mean that individuals would have to pay in advance.</p>
<p>ZUPCO currently has 516 conventional buses and 458 commuter omnibuses with the target of the company being to register 1000 commuter omnibuses which together with conventional buses will service both urban and inter-city routes.</p>
<p>Madangwa also indicated that the company intends to provide an uninterrupted and affordable commuter service during the festive season when transport operators traditionally hike fares drastically.</p>
<p>Compared to private commuter omnibuses, the heavily subsidised Zupco buses and Kombis charge very little fares thereby attracting most of the commuters who can no longer afford private transport due to the deteriorating economy.</p>

<p>Zimbabwean and South Africa defence forces have jointly donated a number of goods to survivors of Cyclone Idai in Ndiadzo area, Chipinge, Manicaland.</p>
<p>The joint military operation has been carrying out rehabilitation work at the Cyclone Idai ravaged Kopa Growth Point in Chimanimani for the past 6 months.</p>
<p>Speaking after making the donations, joint commanding officer and leader of the South African Defence Forces Lieutenant Colonel Delnot Njoko said that the gesture was the team’s appreciation to the local community’s support during construction of the two bridges at Kopa. He said:</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>We have brought with us school shoes for all the pupils at this school, and in addition we cleared sporting fields, donated water tanks, cement and fence so that this school can develop.</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>Ndiadzo School head, Douglas Mutema, and the local community expressed gratitude adding that the building material received will go a very long way in developing the community that was left devastated by the cyclone.</p>
<p>Residents added that the rains had destroyed their Banana plantations which were a source of revenue and now they were failing to fend for their families.</p>

South African And Zimbabwe Defence Forces Jointly Donate To Cyclone Idai Survivors

<p>Vice President Constantino Chiwenga on 24 November served his wife Mary with “gupuro”, a traditional Shona divorce token. telling her to vacate their Borrowdale home by Friday 6 December.</p>
<p>Zim Live reports that Chiwenga was infuriated when Mary asked for a Marriage Act (Chapter 5:11) union as the 63-year-old battled for his life in a Pretoria hospital in July with reports suggesting however that <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/indisposed-vp-chiwenga-hurriedly-formalize-marriage-to-mary/">the couple secretly performed the marriage at their Borrowdale house.</a></p>
<p>Chiwenga is also said to be accusing the <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/indisposed-vp-chiwenga-bans-wife-from-visiting-him-in-hospital-report/">former model of playing a role in suspected poisoning</a> which made him spend the good part of this year in hospitals.</p>
<p>Zim Live further reports that Chiwenga sent a letter to Mary through Harare lawyer, Wilson Manase, ordering her to vacate the property and leave behind their two children together, a boy and a girl aged eight and seven.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, Mary is said to have also called her lawyers to fight the intended eviction which is alike to how Chiwenga divorced his first wife, Jocelyn, in 2010 to clear the path for his marriage to Mary.</p>
<p>Jocelyn who was being accused of beating up Chiwenga was evicted from the matrimonial home and forcibly evicted by soldiers from their farm in Shamva.</p>

VP Chiwenga Gives Wife 13-Day Ultimatum To Leave Borrowdale Home

<p>The Meteorological Services (MET) Department has advised members of the public to be extra vigilant as isolated thunderstorms are expected particularly in Matebeleland and, Midlands Masvingo Provinces whilst isolated thunderstorms also remained a possibility elsewhere.</p>
<p>In a statement, the department said that thunderstorms were a possibility due to moisture-associated with a cloud band hovering over Western Zambia into Botswana which is expected to spread eastward across the country. The statement further reads:</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>Mindful of these strong winds; remain indoors when roof tops have been blown off and hide under desks or tables.</strong></p>
<p><strong>It has been proven that thatched huts are more resistant to wind than metal or tile-roofed houses. Do not hide under isolated trees during storm activity.</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>The department also advised residents in malaria-prone areas to guard themselves against mosquitos saying that hot temperatures during the rainy season provided the most conducive environment for mosquito breeding.</p>
<p>A number of people lost lives and properties whilst some infrastructures were left uninhabitable due to thunderstorms which swept across the country over the past few weeks.</p>

"Mindful Of These Strong Winds; Remain Indoors...," Met Department Warns Of Thunderstom

<p>Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister, Professor Paul Mavima, has said that the government was ready to engage workers over the cost of living adjustment (COLA) adding that a meeting with the workers’ Apex Council had already been scheduled.</p>
<p>His remarks come after the workers’ representatives had written to the Public Service Commission (PSC) requesting a National Joint Negotiating Council (NJNC) meeting on a cushioning allowance for December. Speaking to the Herald, Mavima said:</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>We will comply. We need dialogue. Our side will organise. I am also due to meet with them on Wednesday next week as the entirety of the labour group.</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>Workers and government have this year met on a number of occasions to deliberate on the COLA with workers arguing that their salaries were being eroded by the soaring inflation.</p>
<p>Among other intervention measures to cushion the worker, the government introduced the heavily subsidised ZUPCO buses which charge a very low fare.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, workers say that the initiative is insufficient as the economy is inflationary.</p>

Striking Doctors Are Being Sponsored By Doug Coltart - Charamba

<p>Robert Mugabe’s nephew Patrick Zhuwao spoke about his relationship with the former president and how he was helped by his uncle after he graduated from college till he became a cabinet minister.</p>
<p>Writing on Facebook Zhuwao penned:</p>
<blockquote><p>Facebook reminded me about a picture that I posted of President Mugabe and I when he visited my Zhuwao Livestock cattle stand at the Harare Agricultural Show in August 2013. Whilst the recollection initially left me feeling a bit melancholy, I am extremely grateful that President Mugabe introduced me to the transformative and empowering nature of agriculture.</p>
<p>I am very proud that I have remained a firm disciple of President Mugabe’s principled stance despite his ouster during the November 2017 coup. I am also proud of having the honour having served under President Mugabe and receiving his tutelage, mentorship and wise counsel. I boldly describe myself as a “proud Mugabe Minister”. Despite some people unsuccessfully trying to persuade me to downplay my interaction with President Mugabe, I choose to live to the dictates of a quote that President Mugabe has consistently used, “You can never sacrifice principle on the altar of expedience”.</p>
<p>President Mugabe’s belief that agricultural transformation is the route to Africa’s socio-economic transformation has provided me with the inspiration to re-imagine a fulfilling vocation for myself. Viktor Frankl, in his book “Man’s Search for Meaning”, states that “those who have a ‘why’ to live can bear with almost any ‘how'”.</p>
<p>From the time I first graduated from university in 1990, President Mugabe consistently urged me to take up farming. I would listen to him, go away and disregard his advice. I would convince myself that farming was too risky for young professionals like me. With an honours degree in computer systems engineering, an MBA, and the boisterous confidence of a young businessman, I saw agriculture as having too many uncontrollable variables including unpredictable weather.</p>
<p>I find out how wrong I was after I had reluctantly taken up farming. As a ZANU PF member, I felt obligated to practice the party’s land reform mantra; Land is the Economy and the Economy is Land. After obtaining an offer letter for land in August 2002, I secured bank funding to buy tractors, farm implements and irrigation equipment. I was not going to risk resources to the vagaries of the weather.</p>
<p><ins class="adsbygoogle" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1808990247913755" data-ad-format="auto" data-ad-slot="7632241627" data-adsbygoogle-status="done" data-full-width-responsive="true"><ins id="aswift_4_expand"><ins id="aswift_4_anchor"></ins></ins></ins>My first harvest was such a success that I became hooked onto agriculture. I finally got to understood why President Mugabe has consistently placed agriculture at the centre of independent Africa’s socio-economic transformation and empowerment. My conversion to agriculture was so complete that the dissertations for two of my master’s degrees have been on agriculture.</p>
<p>For fifteen years, I invested financially and emotionally in agriculture on land allocated to me in Zimbabwe. The November 2017 coup forced me to decide whether to stand with President Mugabe and risk losing those investments. I chose to stand on principle and risk having everything taken away. As Frankl says, “everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms – to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s on way”. The 2017 coup denied me access to farm land in Zimbabwe.</p>
<p>Despite my not having access to farming land, President Mugabe has given me an attitude that has allowed me to choose my own way to contribute to agricultural transformation. President Mugabe’s advice for me to take up farming, provided me with a fulfilling vocation for Africa’s socio-economic transformation. Agricultural transformation represents for me what Frankl refers to as the ‘why’ of living. That ‘why’ to live has provided for the ‘how’ to live without sacrificing principle on the altar of expedience. I can focus on my research on how to effect agricultural transformation through digital technologies.</p>
<p>Given how President Mugabe is loyal, generous, empowering and transformative, I cannot image how some of the people that President Mugabe stood by and protected feel about the ignominious way they betrayed him. Apostle Talent Chiwenga says that God is not happy with the manner in which President Mugabe was ousted. <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Talent_Chiwenga">Apostle Chiwenga</a> believes that is why Zimbabwe faces challenges. Patrick Zhuwao Talks Mugabe, Farming And More

<p>The Zimbabwe Prison Services is having a hard time feeding and providing medication for incarcerated citizens according to Newsday.</p>
<p>The matter came to light in Bulawayo during the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Human_Rights_Commission">Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission</a> prison assessment consultative meeting where ZPS’s Assistant Commissioner Mehlulelwa Ngwenya said:</p>
<blockquote><p>We are facing serious challenges, we cannot adequately feed our inmates, neither are we able to treat them due to lack of medicine in our institutions</p>
<p>We are highly incapacitated. We cannot take our inmates to court on time, hence violating their rights.</p></blockquote>

Parly Set Up A 10-Member Committee To Investigate MDC MPs' Boycotts - Report

<p>Terrence Hussein, the lawyer of the late former president of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe has revealed that the process of ascertaining Mugabe’s estate will take longer than many would like to think.</p>
<p>Speaking to Reuters this week, Hussein indicated that the properties listed in news reports were not in Mugabe’s name while his rural homestead had no title because all communal land in Zimbabwe is owned by traditional chiefs. He said:</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>The first task of the executor will be to compile assets and then decide who will be a beneficiary. Therefore, the suggestion that the estate has been finalised is untrue and misleading. The long, drawn-out process has only begun.</strong></p>
<p><strong>The 10 cars are a vintage car collection which frankly had value only to him.</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>Local publications reported yesterday that Bona Chikore, Mugabe’s daughter had written to the High Court in October, a month after the death of his father, seeking to register her father’s estate which included US$10 million in a local bank, four houses in Harare, 10 cars, one farm, his rural home and an orchard.</p>
<p>Hussein claimed that they had failed to locate Mugabe’s will adding that they had written to other lawyers to establish if they have it.</p>

"The Suggestion That The Estate Has Been Finalised Is Untrue," - Lawyer On Mugabe's Estate

<p>Parents have lamented over the decision of some schools to raise school fees for the 2020 first term. One anonymous parent whose children go to St Ignatius College which recently increased fees to $12 000 from $3 000, with reports suggesting they want to further increase to $20 000, spoke to the Daily News and said:</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>So the schools have decided to charge us according to the inflation rate, but my question is who is getting paid monthly according to the rate?</strong></p>
<p><strong>Everyone is suffering from the harsh economic environment, but it doesn’t make sense for a person who is not getting their salary according to the interbank rate to be charged according to it</strong>.</p></blockquote>
<p>These remarks come after several schools have hiked their fees citing the inflationary economy. The inflation, according to schools, erodes the fees thereby affecting the smooth operation of the schools.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Cain Mathema has said that schools are not authorised to raise fees willy nilly since they need to agree with a representative number of parents first.</p>

"Schools Have Decided To Charge Us According To The Inflation Rate," Concerned Parent

<p>The outspoken leader of the Zimbabwe Divine Destiny church, Ancelimo Magaya has accused President Emmerson Mnangagwa of lacking genuine interest to dialogue with other stakeholders including the opposition MDC led by Nelson Chamisa.</p>
<p>Speaking to the Daily News, Magaya also accused Mnangagwa of dividing the church by meeting with the church leaders who always nod to everything he says even at the expense of the nation. Magaya added:</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>“The truth of the matter is that Mnangagwa is not sincere on the issue of dialogue. His biggest challenge is that he does not know what it takes to end this crisis. He has to be sincere because he is at the centre of our problems. </strong></p>
<p><strong>Polad is a defective process because it’s a political dialogue including only political parties, unfortunately without the biggest opposition party. Chamisa said he cannot go to dialogue without an independent convener</strong>.</p></blockquote>
<p>His remarks come after some church leaders have called upon Chamisa to “unconditionally” join POLAD which President Mnangagwa set as a dialogue platform.</p>
<p>He also speaks after Mnangagwa has revealed that he would not entertain any other dialogue outside POLAD where he is currently meeting with losing presidential candidates in the 2018 elections.</p>
<p>Analysts believe that dialogue between Mnangagwa and Chamisa has the potential to solve the country’s socio-economic and political crises.</p>

<p>Zimbabwe Peace Project leader, Jestina Mukoko has recalled how she was abducted by 5 unidentified armed men and a woman who were driving an unmarked vehicle with no registration numbers, from her home in Norton on the <span class="ILfuVd NA6bn"><span class="e24Kjd">3rd December 2008 around 5 am. Posting on Twitter, she said:<br/>

<blockquote><p><strong>On this day they came for me at dawn. Incommunicado for 21 was tortured then 68 at Chikurubi. Why subject to abduction it’s cruel inhuman and cruel. My crime: to overthrow govt really ini? zvimwe vanhu itai muchinyara (me overthrowing the government? You must be ashamed of yourselves.)<br/>
</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>In her affidavit back then, she said:</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>I was not wearing anything other than a nightdress. I had no undergarments and other personal and medical requirements.</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>She asked to wear some better clothes but she was forced out of the window by her abductors who then drove her for about an hour before putting her in “an interrogation room”. She said that she was asked numerous questions which later turned into accusations.</p>
<p>She said that the six men who were interrogating her accused her of recruiting youths to join the MDC through her organisation, ZPP. She added:</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>First, I was assaulted underneath my feet with a rubber-like object which was at least one metre long … Later, I was informed to raise my feet on to a table, and the other people in the room started to assault me underneath my feet. This assault lasted for at least five to six minutes. They took a break and then continued again with the beatings.</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>Mukoko was finally able to, briefly, in the presence of police, see her family. On Christmas Eve, and without legal consultation she was made to appear in court.</p>
<p><span class="ILfuVd"><span class="e24Kjd">In March 2009, three months after her abduction, Mukoko was released on bail only to have the bail revoked in May. She was then again freed after an international outcry and protests from then MDC leader, Morgan Tsvangirai. </span></span></p>
<p><span class="ILfuVd"><span class="e24Kjd">In June, at a hearing before the Supreme Court, a prosecutor admitted that Ms Mukoko had been abducted illegally. </span></span></p>

Jestina Mukoko Recalls How She Was Abducted On 3 December 2008, Then Tortured

<p>Mr Terrence Hussein of Hussein Ranchod &amp; Company the lawyer of the family of the late former president of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe has written to the Master of High Court Mr Eldard Mutasa asking him to register the death of Mugabe adding that no will had been found. Part of the letter reads:</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>Thus far, we have not been able to locate a will but have sent out inquiries to other law firms, although the family members are not aware of any.</strong></p>
<p><strong>In this regard, perhaps the estate may be treated as intestate for now</strong>.</p></blockquote>
<p>Meanwhile, Mrs Bona Nyepudzai Mutsahuni-Chikore, the daughter of Mugabe, notified the Master’s Office on October 21 and disclosed that her late father had the following immovable and movable properties:</p>

<li><strong>House Number 129 Forbes Road, Waterfalls</strong></li>
<li><strong>Villa Number 65 Gunhill</strong></li>

<li><strong>Lot GB Helensvale and Lot 1 of subdivision B of Sub G of Helensvale</strong></li>
<li><strong>Highfield Farm</strong></li>
<li><strong>Zvimba rural farming plot (about 5 acres)</strong></li>
<li><strong>Zvimba rural home (one hectare)</strong></li>
<li><strong>Zvimba orchard (about five acres)</strong></li>
<li><strong>10 cars</strong></li>
</ul>
<p>Mugabe’s widow, Grace, was listed as the sole surviving spouse while Bona, Robert, Bellarmine and Russel Goreraza were listed as Cde Mugabe’s surviving children.</p>
<p>Legal experts said that information in the inventory can be edited adding that intentionally leaving out some assets was fraud punishable under law.</p>
<p>Before Mugabe’s burial, Leo Mugabe, the spokesperson of the late ZANU PF boss suggested that <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2019/09/16/robert-mugabe-had-no-house-in-harare-family/">Mugabe had no house in Harare.</a></p>

"Leaving Out Properties Intentionally Is Fraud," As Mugabe Family "Fails" To Locate His Will, See His Estate

<p>The government is seriously considering imposing restrictions on imported ex Japanese vehicles because they have turned the country into a dumping ground, the Chronicle reports.</p>
<p>This was revealed by the Transport Minister, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Joel_Biggie_Matiza">Joel Biggie Matiza,</a> who was speaking at the Africa Transport Policy Programme in Victoria Falls who urged the citizens to be patient and trust the government’s initiative of subsidised public transport.</p>
<p>Said the Minister:</p>
<blockquote><p>There is an appetite to own cars which has seen a rise in importation of ex-Japanese cars. Time has come to legislate and monitor the number of years for each car before it is imported. There is really a need to look at the age of each car as most of them are grounded after two months because people can’t get spare parts.We can’t be a dumping ground for old cars and it’s something we have to work on with the <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Ministry_of_Industry_and_Commerce">Ministry of Industry and Commerce</a> who are hands on on that.</p>
<p>We as Transport feel the carnage on the roads is partly because of these cars because they are very old, As for urban transport nobody can say they are not experiencing joy in terms of their pockets because of <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_United_Passenger_Company">Zupco</a> whose numbers are increasing and are always packed. It’s a process that we started recently and it has proven that it’s a model that works and needs some fine tuning and making sure we have more buses.</p></blockquote>
<p>Zimbabwe is one of the countries that allow the importation of cars from Japan since they are affordable unlike the ones sold in most local dealerships.</p>

Govt Seriously Consider Putting Restrictions On Importing Ex-Japanese Vehicles

<p>The Ministry of Information has this Sunday posted a video on Twitter suggesting that, contrary to social media reports, <strong>Victoria Falls is NOT dry.</strong></p>
