A 29-year-old maid from Cowdray Park, Bulawayo, allegedly raped her employer’s 14-year-old son when they were home alone while two boys were sodomised in a different case.
According to local police, on an unknown date in September at around 1 pm, the complainant was alone in a store room when the accused person opened the door, came inside and locked the door. 
The maid is alleged to have then grabbed the minor, forcibly removed his shirt, and trousers and forced him to have sexual intercourse with her once without protection.
After the act, the accused person told the minor not to tell anyone about the matter, <a href="https://www.sundaynews.co.zw/maid-rapes-employers-son-in-cowdray-park/">The Sunday News</a> reported citing said acting Bulawayo police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele. Said the inspector:

The matter came to light on 6 November when the boy’s father noticed some change in behavior of his child. He then asked his child what was bothering him and the boy narrated the ordeal a report was made to the police leading to the arrest of the accused person.
We urge teenagers and youths not to fear to report such cases and find people to confide to.

Meanwhile, a 20-year-old man from Hwange appeared at the Hwange Magistrates Court facing <a href="https://www.sundaynews.co.zw/20-year-old-man-molests-two-juveniles/">two counts of sodomising two boys.</a>
Craig Gandiya (20) from Chibondo in Hwange appeared before regional magistrate Mr Collet Ncube on Thursday on allegations of sexually assaulting two boys aged eight years and below. 
The incidents are alleged to have occurred on different dates sometime this year.
The State represented by Mr Vumizulu Mangena alleges that on dates unknown to the court, Gandiya was at the home of one boy when he called him to the backyard and molested him once.
On yet another date sometime this year, the court heard that Gandiya took another boy, and exposed him to pornographic videos before he undressed him and sodomised him once. 
The matter came to light on 25 August when one of the victims revealed the matter to his brother and it was subsequently reported to the police.

Maid Rapes Employer's Son, Two Boys Sodomised

Former provincial cricketer and one-time television pundit Dumisani Mankunzini was on 4 November remanded in custody to 18 November over charges of fraud.
Mankunzini who has allegedly been on the run since 14 December last year appeared before Bulawayo magistrate, Mr Busani Sibanda at the Bulawayo Magistrates Court.
He was charged with five counts of fraud for contravening section 136 (b) as defined in Law Codification (Criminal and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23 when the state presented its case before the bench.
In the first case, in which he is facing two counts, the State accused Mankunzini of defrauding two medical doctors of a total of US$520 after convincing them that he would secure them employment in the Zimbabwe cricket national team as team doctors.
In the second case which he has been charged with three counts, Mankunzini is said to have stayed at a city lodge for three before disappearing without paying his dues. 
Mankunzini is expected to be before the courts on 18 November.
In 2020, Mankunzini was also <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2020/02/10/former-cricketer-if-ive-conned-anyone-why-am-i-still-walking-freely/">accused of defrauding some people</a> of their hard-earned cash while claiming to be a revered global cricket media personality or an employee paid handsomely by the International Criminal Court.
A Johannesburg businessman claimed to have lost close to R500 000 paying for Mankunzini’s accommodation, food and transport between September 2018 and February 2019.
The former cricketer reportedly told his victim that the International Cricket Council (ICC) would reimburse him for taking care of their “employee”.
Mankunzini dismissed the allegations, asking rhetorically, “… if I’ve conned anyone why am I still walking freely?”

Former Cricketer Dumisani Mankunzini Remanded In Custody

A 26-year-old Mberengwa man has been arrested for killing his cousin over touting rights.
It is alleged that Honest Shoko punched 33-year-old Panias Shoko with a clenched fist while at Danga Business Centre in Mberengwa.
Panias died on Thursday upon arrival at a local hospital. 
The now deceased Panias Shoko and the suspect, Honest Shoko were touting for commuter omnibuses at the shopping centre when two kombis arrived, reported <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/tout-kills-colleague-in-fight-over-touting-rights/">The Herald</a> quoting Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko. He is cited as saying:

The two dashed to the kombis but the kombi crew then indicated that they were comfortable working with Panias Shoko. This did not go down well with Honest Shoko who then grabbed Panias by the collar before hitting him with a clinched fist below the ear. Panias collapsed and was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Insp Mahoko said police have since arrested Honest Shoko in connection with the murder.
In another case, police in Gwanda arrested Thandazani Ncube (31) on allegations that he fatally assaulted his 15-year-old wife over allegations of infidelity.
Police are also investigating a case of infanticide in which a body of a baby boy infant was found dumped at a dumpsite near Morgan Zintec College in Harare on Tuesday.

A Mberengwa Tout Kills Cousin Over Touting Rights

A 62-year-old woman has been arrested in Darwendale on allegations of killing her 81-year-old husband on Sunday following a fight over allegations of infidelity.
Mary Banda is alleged to have fought with her husband Nira Benet (81) who was confirmed dead on arrival at Father O’Hea Hospital from breathing disorders.
A report was made to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) leading to the arrest of Banda.
Banda and Benet had been fighting when Benet developed challenges in breathing and was rushed to Father O’Hea Hospital, The Herald reported citing National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi. 
He was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Police in Kadoma have arrested three wanted persons, Darlington Daniel Mawuta Pichesi (18), Richard Pichesi (18) and Clifford Stanford Chibhutu in connection with a case of robbery and two cases of theft which occurred in Kadoma in August 2022.
Investigations by the Police linked the suspects to another case of theft, where they stole two solar panels in Kadoma in November 2022. 
Meanwhile, police in Bulawayo arrested Thulani Banda (30) on Sunday for a robbery in which he and an accomplice, still at large, robbed a taxi driver of a Honda Fit vehicle, a cellphone and US$100 cash at Nhliziyo Shopping Centre, Entumbane.
Police recovered the stolen vehicle from Banda. 
In another case, police arrested Tinashe Joram (32) for stealing a motor vehicle in Norton on Sunday at about 11 am. The suspect stole a Toyota Corolla vehicle (ABX 4962) which was left unattended by the complainant with the keys in the ignition.

A 62-year-old Woman Arrested For Killing Her 81-year-old Husband

A 43-year-old man from Gwanda died after being struck with a half brick on the head allegedly for proposing love to a married woman.
A police report seen by Pindula News says Langton Moyo died at the hospital on Tuesday. Reads the statement issued by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP):

Man Killed For Proposing Love To A Married Woman

A Harare woman was Thursday granted a protection order against her 18-year-old son who has been threatening to kill her for allegedly killing his father.
Angeline Ncube brought her 18-year-old son Nigel Matope to court where Harare Magistrate Ms Tamara Chibindi granted her protection order, according to <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/mother-drags-son-to-court-2/">The Herald</a>.
Ncube told the court that her son accuses her of having killed her own husband. She said:

I no longer stay with my son who is not present today but he accuses me of killing my husband. He uses drugs like ‘mutoriro’ and assaults my other four children.
He also insults my landlord and I am now afraid that I may be asked to move out because he also harasses the other tenants.

In a different case, another Harare woman, Maria Bote, was Thursday granted a protection order against her son, Brighton Marikopo, who harasses and threatens to kill her.
Magistrate Chibindi granted the order in default to Bote and ordered Marikopo not to visit her mother’s house and to stop insulting and threatening her.
Bote told the court that she was now living in fear for her life.
She said Marikopo threatens to kill her with an axe and once attempted to set her on fire inside the house with gas.

18-year-old Son Threatens To Kill His Mother Over Father's Death

Two Harare City Council directors, Cainos Chingombe and Tendai Kwenda, have been Thursday found not guilty of criminal abuse of office charges when they appeared before a Harare magistrate.
The duo was being accused of buying themselves top-of-the-range cars with funds meant for the provision of water, sanitation, education and recreational services and bought.
Chingombe and Kwenda were cleared of the criminal abuse of office as public officers and theft of trust property charges by Harare regional magistrate Mrs Vongai Guwiriro, according to <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/city-directors-acquitted-of-misappropriating-funds/">The Herald</a>.
Charges 
Chingombe was accused of transferring US$130 000 while Kwenda was accused of transferring US$70 000 from the council’s Traditional Beer Levy Account into their respective bank accounts and buying top-of-the-range cars.
The magistrate acquitted the two council directors after noting that the State failed to provide evidence that the duo committed the alleged offences. 
The court also ruled that the State failed to prove that the Traditional Beer Levy Account existed after the court was told of the existence of a general account only.
Kwenda was the finance director while Chingombe was the human resource capital director at the local government authority during the time they were accused of committing the offence.

Harare City Directors Acquitted Of Corruption Charges

Opposition Citizens Coalition for Change’s (CCC) Member of Parliament for Chitungwiza North, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Godfrey_Sithole">Godfrey Sithole</a> has been granted bail.
His party made the announcement in a statement seen by Pindula News. Read the statement posted on the microblogging site, Twitter:

BREAKING: Hon Godfrey Sithole has finally been granted bail after spending 149 days in prison without trial. In a new Zimbabwe, a person is innocent until proven guilty not vice versa like what we’re currently experiencing under Mr Mnangagwa’s regime.

Sithole was arrested in June allegedly for inciting the 14 June public violence which erupted in Nyatsine during the funeral wake of slain CCC activist, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Moreblessing_Ali">Moreblessing Ali.</a>
He was arrested together with Zengeza West legislator, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Job_Sikhala">Job Sikhala</a> who is still in jail.
There are more than a dozen other CCC activists who were also arrested over the violence.
Sithole was granted $300 000 bail by Harare regional magistrate Mrs Marehwanazvo Gofa.
He was also ordered to report twice a week at Chitungwiza Police Station and surrender his passport as part of his bail conditions.
Sithole was represented by lawyer Oliver Marwa, who made a fresh bail application on changed circumstances on Wednesday.
The legislator is expected back in court along with Sikhala on November 15 for trial.

CCC MP Godfrey Sithole Granted Bail 149 Days Later

Businessman Frank Sadiqi Buyanga has been arrested in South Africa on allegations of child trafficking and other charges.
Charges also include immigration violations and forgery, <a href="https://www.newzimbabwe.com/just-in-business-tycoon-buyanga-arrested-in-south-africa/">NewZimbabwe.com</a> reported citing a SAPS statement signed by Colonel Athlenda Mathe. Reads the statement:

Sadiqi is wanted by the Zimbabwean authorities for child trafficking, forgery and violation of the immigration act.
The charges emanate from an incident which took place in April 2020 in Zimbabwe where the suspect kidnapped his next of kin and fled with him to South Africa.
A warrant of arrest was immediately issued by Zimbabwean Authorities after which a red notice was also issued by Interpol Harare.

Buyanga and his ex-girlfriend Chantelle Muteswa have for years been embroiled in a legal battle over the custody of their minor son.
In 2020 Buyanga allegedly kidnapped his son from the hands of the mother and fled to South Africa.
This was after he was granted custody by the Supreme Court in a landmark ruling that gave equal access to unmarried couples.
Buyanga was allegedly being accompanied by two men armed with guns when he staged the ‘heist’ outside a Spar Supermarket in Harare’s Waterfalls suburb.
He was later listed on Interpol’s Red Notice.
Chantelle involved the first family in the matter prompting the <a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2020/06/11/full-text-buyanga-tells-ed-to-stop-meddling-in-his-custody-and-personal-matters/">businessman to fume “demanding that Mrs Auxillia Mnangagwa and her sons desist</a> with their involvement, has been sent.”

Zim Businessman Frank Buyanga Arrested In South Africa For Child Trafficking

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has reported that four unknown machete-wielding assailants pounced on a gold mine in Zhombe and got away with 8kgs of pregnant carbon. 
In a report seen by Pindula News, ZRP said the suspects attacked and injured the security guards at the mine. Reads the statement:

The ZRP is investigating a murder case which occurred in Zhombe on 09/11/22 at around 0300 hours, where four unknown suspects who were armed with axes and machetes pounced at the mine and struck two security guards, Obert Moyo (56) and Herbert Zimbe (47), with axes before stealing 8kgs of pregnant carbon. The two victims sustained severe injuries and were rushed to Kwekwe General Hospital. Obert Moyo was pronounced dead upon arrival.

In the gold industry, activated carbon is used to recover gold from the gold-cyanide complex also known as the cyanide process. It is a technique for extracting gold from low-grade ore by converting the gold to a water-soluble coordination complex.
In January this year, ZRP arrested a man who was found in possession of 05 x 50kg sacks of pregnant carbons which were suspected to have been stolen from Gwanda, a gold mining town in Matabeleland South.
Meanwhile, ZRP Saruwe arrested Prosper Rocque Samanyanga (38) and Hardlife Chitsuro (32) on 09/11/22 for a case of unlawful entry into premises and theft, which occurred at Frenchoeck Farm on 04/11/22. 
It is alleged that the duo broke into a complainant’s storeroom and stole an ATA motorcycle. Police have since recovered the cycle, which had been sold in Darwendale.

Machete-wielding Robbers Pounce On Gold Mine And Get Away With 8kgs Of Pregnant Carbon

New details have emerged in the case of a<a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/update-9-year-old-pregnant-girl-doesnt-know-shes-pregnant-father-arrested/"> pregnant nine-year-old girl</a> from Masekesa village in Tsholotsho under Chief Gampu amid indications that the family lived with a young male relative.
Chief Gampu has called for the interrogation of the young man emphasising that he was not accusing the man. 
The traditional leader said the young man left a few months ago allegedly to seek employment in Dogwe village, one of the villages in the district. <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/new-details-emerge-on-the-pregnant-tsholotsho-girl-mystery/">The Chronicle</a> quotes Chief Gampu as saying:

I am not at all saying the young man is responsible for what happened, neither am I saying the father did not but it is known that the family was living with a young relative who I believe is related to the girl’s mother and maybe the police may actually want to interview him as well, just like they did to the father.
</blockquote>
The traditional leader said society was expected to protect young, innocent children instead of exposing them to such heinous acts.
He said he was going to spearhead awareness campaigns in his area of jurisdiction and encouraged other traditional leaders to also embark on such programmes so as to encourage and inform people about concerns related to child abuse while encouraging them to speak out against such vices.
The young girl who was just eight years old when she fell pregnant, with suspicions that she was raped, is set to give birth through a cesarean delivery on November 17 at United Bulawayo Hospitals.
The incident led to the <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/update-9-year-old-pregnant-girl-doesnt-know-shes-pregnant-father-arrested/">arrest of the girl’s biological father</a> (29) who allegedly warned his daughter that “goblins will visit her at night and insert something in her private parts.”

New Details Emerge on 9-year-old Pregnant Zimbabwean Girl

A 43-year-old Zimbabwean woman who was the treasurer of the Pretoria City Seventh-day Adventist church has been jailed for an effective three years for stealing R800 000 in tithe money in South Africa.
Memory Mutsika was convicted by the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court for 128 counts of theft which occurred over a four-year period.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Mutsika’s responsibilities included transferring tithe and offering money deposited to the church account, to the Northern Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
NPA spokesperson for Pretoria, Lumka Mahanjana, said that between 2012 and 2015, Mutsika transferred more than R800 000 of the money received from the tithe and offerings to her bank account.
Mahanjana said Mutsika converted the money to her personal use and pleaded guilty to the charges.
She said Mutsika had asked for a non-custodial sentence to enable her to repay the church the money over five years. Added Mahanjana:

However, the State argued that Mutsika always indicated her willingness to pay back the money and had not paid back a single cent since March 2022 after her conviction.
The magistrate agreed with the State and said Mutsika showed no remorse, and that she only stopped stealing not because of her conscience, but because she was caught.
The church placed her in a position of trust, but she betrayed that trust. He further said that he viewed Mutsika’s willingness to pay back the money, as a bargaining tool and as a ticket to keep her out of prison.
Therefore, a sentence of imprisonment was appropriate and criminal conduct has consequences.

Seventh-day Adventist Zim Woman Jailed In SA For Stealing Tithe Money

A 33-year-old woman from Madziwa, Mashonaland Central Province, narrowly escaped death on Sunday after being shot twice, once on the forehead and on the right ear with an FN pistol by her boyfriend.
Provincial police spokesperson Sergeant Major Samuel Chikasha said the shooting victim, Patience Makanika, and her boyfriend Bernard Mpofu (47) of Churuma village in Madziwa, were staying together at Ponesaivanhu business centre in Madziwa.
Sgt Maj Chikasha said the two had an argument on Sunday and Makanika asked her boyfriend to vacate their shared residence. He added:

This did not go down well with Mpofu who got angry, withdrew a pistol and shot his girlfriend once on the forehead and once on the right ear.
Police attended the scene and arrested Mpofu for attempted murder while Makanika was referred to Madziwa Hospital for treatment.

Makanika’s condition is reportedly stable.

Woman Survives After Being Shot Twice By Boyfriend

Thirty-four (34) members of the Zimbabwe Transformative Party (ZTP), led by Parere Kunyenzura were back at the Harare Magistrates Court on Wednesday on allegations of obstructing the free passage and movement of people and vehicles.
The ZTP supporters, who are also members of Mirirai Jehovha Apostolic Church, were arrested on 9 July 2022 while singing and conducting prayers in full church regalia in Harare central business district (CBD).
The Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) on Wednesday said the ZTP supporters are charged with contravening section 46 of the Criminal Code. ZLHR said:

At Harare Magistrates Court, we continue seeking freedom for 34 members of Mirirai Jehovha Apostolic Church, who are also supporters of Zimbabwe Transformative Party, an opposition political party, who are on trial for criminal nuisance charges and have spent 4 months in remand prison since 9 July, when they were arrested and charged with contravening section 46 of Criminal Code by [Police], who alleged that they had acted unlawfully in a manner which is likely to create a nuisance by walking on roads and pavements in Harare’s CBD while singing a gospel song with the lyrics “Emmanuel tisunungureiwo tanzwa ne nhamo” and thereby obstructed the free passage and movement of people and vehicles. Evans Moyo of [ZLHR] is representing them.

Kunyenzura, a self-styled prophet, claimed God ordained him as the next President of Zimbabwe when he launched the party in May this year.
He said neither President Emmerson Mnangagwa nor his biggest challenger, Nelson Chamisa, the leader of the opposition CCC, will win the 2023 presidential election.
Kunyezura warned state security agencies not to try to thwart what “God” has ordained.

Parere Kunyenzura, ZTP Supporters' Trial For Criminal Nuisance Continues

A man from Luveve suburb in Bulawayo has appeared in court facing charges of making a false report to the police.
Elias Mamera (29) appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Busani Sibanda facing charges of deliberately supplying false information to a public authority as defined in Section 180 (1) (a) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.
He was not asked to plead and was granted $20 000 bail.
It is alleged that Mamera made a false report of a purported theft to the police claiming Clinton Tarugamuchira Muregere, a mechanic, had sold his vehicle which he had left with him for repairs.
On 4 September 2022 and at around 6 PM, Mamera went to ZRP Bulawayo Central Police Station and reported that on 22 July 2022 he left his motor vehicle, a Honda CRV, to Muregere so that he could fix it.
Mamera went on to state that Muregere, after repairing the motor vehicle, sold it without his consent.
A case of theft of a motor vehicle was then opened and a docket was sent to CID Vehicle Theft Squad in Bulawayo for investigations.
However, following investigations, the police established that Mamera had actually sold the vehicle to Muregere and was paid part of the payment and Muregere was still owing him a balance of US$470.

Man In Court For Making False Criminal Report

A 15-year-old girl from Gwanda was allegedly murdered by her 31-year-old husband who accused her of infidelity.
The now-deceased minor, Silindokuhle Sibanda, stayed with her husband Thandazani Ncube at his parents’ homestead in the Singukwe area.
It is alleged that Ncube assaulted the teenager in the middle of the night while they were on their way home after attending a party on 5 November 2022.
After the attack, Ncube carried the girl home in a wheelbarrow and placed her on their bed.
The minor was found dead the following morning.
Ncube was on Monday arraigned before Gwanda magistrate, Polite Ncube Banda, facing a murder charge. He was remanded in custody to 21 November.
Prosecuting, Ngonidzashe Shumba said Ncube attacked Silindokuhle on 5 November around 11 PM and the minor succumbed to head injuries the following day. Said Shumba:

On 5 November at around 11 PM Thandazani Ncube struck Silindokuhle Sibanda on the back of her head using an unknown object following an altercation. Ncube was accusing the girl of infidelity.
Silindokuhle succumbed to head injuries the following day at around 4 AM.

Earlier, Ncube’s mother, Sibongile Ncube, told the <a href="https://www.chronicle.co.zw/man-31-assaults-15-year-old-wife-to-death/">Chronicle</a> that her son and Silindokuhle had gone to a party at a nearby homestead.
She said in the middle of the night she heard the sound of a wheelbarrow being pushed out of the yard.
Ncube said a few minutes later her son came rushing and informed her that his wife had a headache.
She said she went back to sleep assuming that Silindokuhle would be fine in the morning since it was just a headache.
However, when Ncube went to check on Silindokuhle the following morning, she found the girl lying on her bed covered in blood-soaked blankets. She said:

My son was also there in the same room and he told me that he was trying to discipline her for cheating on him with another man.
Upon checking Silindokuhle, I discovered that she was already dead.

Ncube said she immediately alerted neighbours who came to the homestead and community members effected a citizen arrest on Thandazani and escorted him to a police base in Stanmore leading to his arrest.

Man (31) Kills 15-year-old "Wife" Over Infidelity Allegations

Chief Gampu Sithole of Tsholotsho has condemned the rape of the nine-year-old girl from his area who became pregnant as a result of the sexual abuse saying it was uncultured and unacceptable.
According to officials, the girl, who is eight months pregnant, is not aware of the pregnancy as she believes she has a “stomach ailment.”
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Chief Gampu urged society to protect young children from sexual predators. He said:

I’m here to address the situation that occurred in my community involving the nine-year-old girl who just so happened to become pregnant.
Being the leaders that we are, we strongly condemn this heinous conduct. Soon after learning the tragic news, I was able to visit the family and meet the child’s grandmother.
I was told the girl had gone through puberty earlier than planned. The child was supposed to receive medical attention because that alone should have been a concern handled by a doctor. We want this innocent minor to receive the justice she deserves.

Chief Gampu said he will undertake awareness campaigns in his community about issues related to child abuse. He also spoke against child marriages. He added:

We highly condemn this particular issue, I personally refuse to accept it as a normal crime and justifiable.
I doubt God can accept this, the government definitely does not, the community should not normalise or accept it as well.

Victoria Falls City’s finance director Nerville Ndlovu has been suspended to pave way for investigations into allegations of gross misconduct, a <a href="https://www.sundaynews.co.zw/victoria-falls-finance-director-suspendedsix-other-employees-resign/">Sunday News</a> report claims.
Acting Mayor of Victoria Falls, Councillor Tonderai Mutasa confirmed the suspension adding that six other employees have resigned. Said Mutasa:

Those developments are true. I can confirm that six employees resigned, five from the accounting department and one from the health department.
I can also confirm that the financial director Mr Nerville Ndlovu has been suspended from duty.
I am not yet privy to the reasons for the suspension since I was out of town.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Victoria Falls Clr Somvelo Dhlamini was on Monday further remanded in custody to 21 November 2022 by the Hwange regional magistrates court to allow for further investigations into his case.
Dhlamini was arrested on 6 October on charges of illegally acquiring a housing stand from the local authority.
He is accused of prejudicing Victoria Falls Municipality of US$15 000 and a potential prejudice of US$66 462.75.

Victoria Falls City Council's Finance Director Suspended

The Zimbabwean teacher who was arrested recently for complaining about the poor salaries paid by the government to civil servants appeared at the Harare Magistrates Court this Tuesday.
Edith Mupondi, of Budiriro, a high-density suburb in Harare, is charged with contravening section 88(b) of the Postal &amp; Telecommunications Act for “sending by telephone any message that she knew to be false for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience needless anxiety to any person.”
The case was postponed to 16 November 2022, according to the Amalgamated Rural Teachers’ Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ). ARTUZ said in a post:

President @OMasaraure and DSG @Masiyiwa7 were at court in solidarity with a teacher, Edith Mupondi who is being charged for posting a WhatsApp message complaining about underpayment. Case postponed to 16 November. The state claims she posted falsehoods and annoyed other citizens.

Prosecutors allege that Muponda, who is represented by ZLHR lawyer Gift Mtisi, unlawfully used her mobile phone handset to send a message on “Epworth Ladies” WhatsApp group on 23 October 2020 decrying payment of poor salaries by the government to civil servants. The alleged message read:

PaEpworth High School, Mr Muzondo, Mr Mudzengere, Mrs Sithole please tinyareiwo muzvigarire kumba, muri kurwisa vanhu vari kukurwirai kuti muwane mari inotenga. Tinyareiwo please.
</blockquote>
When loosely translated into English, this means:
<blockquote>
At Epworth High School, Mr Muzondo, Mr Mudzengere &amp; Mrs Sithole, please respect us by staying at your respective homes. You are fighting people that are clamouring for payment of improved salaries for teachers.
</blockquote>
The message prompted Yvonne Sithole, one of the teachers at Epworth High School, who was allegedly mentioned in the WhatsApp communication reportedly sent by Mupondi, to lodge a complaint with the police.
As a result, Mupondi was arraigned before Harare Magistrate Tafadzwa Miti to stand trial on charges of contravening the Postal &amp; Telecommunications Act.
In her complaint, Sithole said the message allegedly generated by Mupondi scared her as it sent shivers down her spine. She said:

I recalled well since the opening of schools, I was going to school as usual since I had an exam class.
On some of the days I would inform the Headmaster that I was not coming since I had no money for transport and this was being done by every teacher at the school.
Surprisingly, on 23 October 2020, around 2026 hours, a WhatsApp message was sent to a group.
The message was from a group called “Teachers Can’t Breathe Epworth” and it was forwarded to “Epworth Ladies Group”. It was forwarded by Edith Mupondi.
I am now living in fear and I am no longer able to go to school since I don’t know the intentions of these people and I informed the Headmaster.

Teacher Who Complained About Poor Salaries Returns To Court On 16 November

Chief Makoni recently led hundreds of his subjects to demonstrate against what they consider the annexation of their ancestral land by the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works.
The protestors blocked the Mutare-Harare Road in Rusape for nearly an hour as they sang Chimurenga songs in protest over the takeover of their land.
Chief Makoni, born Colgan Simbayi Gwasira; his wife, Redempter Gwasira; headmen, village heads and several other clansmen led the protestors on Wednesday last week.
The procession marched from Chief Makoni’s Court along Chingaira Street and went to Manda Avenue and then Chimurenga Street, which is part of the Mutare-Harare Highway, thereby blocking traffic.
Chief Makoni and his wife sat on the tarmac as they were circled by their singing subject and attempts by the police to disperse them were fruitless.
The demonstration was sparked by the publishing of a Government Gazette that showed that a huge chunk of Chief Makoni’s land was allocated to Chiefs Chiduku, Tandi, Chikore and Chipunza, reported <a href="https://www.manicapost.co.zw/chief-makoni-demonstrates-against-boundaries/">The Manica Post</a>.
Last month, Chiefs Chiduku and Tandi reportedly began moving into Chief Makoni territory and installing headmen and village heads, a development said to have angered Chief Makoni.
Speaking during an interview with The Manica Post, Chief Makoni said that a large part of his territory had been taken away from him. He said:

Three weeks ago a chief director in the Local Government ministry, Mr (Felix) Chikowo addressed rural district councils’ chief executive officers and said he had been sent by Local Government and Public Works Minister July Moyo to advise Makoni Rural District Council that the issue of boundaries had been settled. It was declared that he had given Chiefs Chiduku and Tandi our land.
All the southern parts of Makoni, including those under substantive headmen Masvosva, Bvekerwa, Mupambawahle, Rukweza, Nyamombe and all resettlements such as Romsely and Nyamapembere, are said to have been allocated to the two chiefs.
They also took our sacred mountains such as Chirimutsitu which the whites christened the Devil’s Pass after a lot of them perished during a war. They also took Mt Manda and the entire Rusape town.
To the west, they gave it to Chief Tandi, the entire Headlands have been allocated to Chief Chipunza and North East has been allocated to Chief Chikore. This means about 90 percent of the Makoni territory has been allocated to other chiefs.
We are now only left with Gandanzara, Chiendambuya north and Dowa. It is like South Africa losing its vast territory to countries like Swaziland and Lesotho, can you imagine that?
This issue started in 2017, but we challenged the move and the Government Gazette was withdrawn. 
Now Minister Moyo has escalated the matter to another level and we approached him raising our objection, but he told us that our Makoni District belongs to the Rozvi Dynasty.

In a statement, the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works said Chief Makoni approached the High Court appealing against a proclamation that was made in a Government Gazette that placed communities in Rusape resettlement under five Rusape chiefs after consultations as required by Section 29 of the Traditional Leaders’ Act.
The statement said the matter was thrown out by the High Court and Chief Makoni was supposed to appeal to the Supreme Court if he was not happy with the High Court ruling, rather than engaging in an illegal demonstration.
Secretary for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Edgars Seenza, said he was aware of the demonstration and was waiting for a detailed report from the Makoni District Development Coordinator which will be forwarded to the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works.
Zimbabwe Council of Chiefs, Manicaland Chapter chairman, Chief Makumbe condemned the demonstration. He said:

We were surprised to hear that Chief Makoni resorted to a demonstration to air his grievances. He took us to court over the issue and a ruling was made. 
If he was not happy with the outcome, he knows the proper channels to follow. By demonstrating, he was doing so against who and to get what? Did he exhaust all the prescribed channels to have his grievances heard?
We condemn such behaviour as it is uncultured. As traditional leaders, we should lead by example. It is unheard of for a traditional leader to lead his or her subjects to revolt against the Government. Disputes should be solved using laid down procedures and not taking the law into our own hands.
We should revisit the Traditional Leaders Act and incorporate the issue of disciplinary measures that will be meted on violators of the law and policies.

Chief Makoni Blocks Highway Protesting 'Annexation' Of His Land

The founder and leader of Goodness and Mercy Ministries, Tapiwa Freddy, was back in court on Monday, 7 November in a matter he is accusing his ex-girlfriend, Rutendo Makuti, of extortion.
Makuti, a radio presenter, Chief Chikwaka (born Witness Bungu) and Gibson Jaji appeared before Harare magistrate Tafadzwa Miti, who remanded the matter to December 12.
Makuti on Monday filed an application for referral to the Constitutional Court.
In her application for referral, Makuti, told the court that the factual matrix of the application is that she reported Freddy for rape, in which her co-accused testified as witnesses.
She stated that Freddy had the opportunity to cross-examine her on the extortion charges that she is now facing.
It was alleged that the accused (Makuti, Bungu and Jaji) wanted Freddy to pay for allegedly raping Mukati.
Freddy then reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of the three suspects.
Freddy was tried for the alleged rape of Makuti and found not guilty in February this year.
In acquitting Freddy, Harare Regional Magistrate Gloria Takundwa said the State failed to prove its case against him after there were several inconsistencies in the testimony of the complainant.
Takundwa said the complainant departed from her material evidence which she gave to the police in her recorded statement.

Tapiwa Freddy Back In Court As He Accuses Ex-lover Of Extortion

Thirty-four (34) villagers from Zvishavane’s Mudereri Village have lost part of their ancestral land after it was sold to FBC Building Society by the Runde Rural District Council.
FBC has started developing the land to create a residential suburb and the villagers claimed that the financial institution did not notify them beforehand.
The villagers then tried to seek the court’s intervention to prevent the conversion of their ancestral land into a residential suburb.
In their court application, they cited the Local Government Ministry, Runde Rural District Council, Zvishavane Town Council, Chief Masunda, Zvishavane Rural District Administrator, and the FBC Building Society as respondents.
However, High Court judge, Justice Siyabona Paul Musithu, ruled that the villagers were trying to deceive the court and threw out the application.
The judge noted that there was an existing court order granting respondents authority to carry on, hence his court could not make another ruling on the same issue. Said Justice Musithu:

There was therefore clearly no reason why a claim involving the same parties and same cause of action had to be split.
Such an approach leads one to reach the conclusion that some mischief was intended.
The mischief behind the splitting of the claim is not difficult to decipher. It was meant to deceive the court.
If those matters were placed before a different judge one judge could be persuaded to declare annexation of the plaintiff’s lands by the defendants unlawful.
The plaintiff’s claim be and is hereby dismissed.

<h2>Statement by Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi on robbery cases involving theft of motor vehicles by suspects posing as genuine transport seekers.</h2>

The Zimbabwe Republic Police is concerned with robbery cases where some motorists are falling prey to criminals posing as genuine transport seekers across the country.
Some of the motorists are losing vehicles to criminals after leaving vehicles unattended with keys on the ignition ports.
On 4th November 2022 at around 1900 hours, a 34-year-old man lost a Honda Fit vehicle registration number AFT 2657, a DSTV decoder, 13 cellphones, seven (07) power banks and personal documents, to two unknown male suspects after he had offered them a lift at Corner Chinhoyi Street and Robert Mugabe Road, Harare, on the pretext that they were going to Marimba, Harare.
Along the way, at Rugare traffic lights, the suspects attacked the complainant and stole his valuables and the vehicle. They then made a U-turn and later dumped the complainant in Msasa.
On 5th November 2022 at about 2015 hours, a 27-year-old man offered a lift to two unknown male suspects who purported to be going to Chinhoyi at Westgate in Harare.
Upon arrival at the 113 km peg along Harare-Chirundu Road, the suspects asked to be dropped off.
They then attacked the complainant and stole US$3 600-00 cash and a Honda Fit vehicle registration number AFY 4575.
On 6th November 2022 at around 0340 hours, a 22-year-old Bulawayo taxi driver was hired by two unknown suspects from Bulawayo Central Business District to Nhliziyo Shopping Centre, Entumbane.
On arrival at the shopping centre, the suspects ordered the complainant to park at a certain house.
They then attacked the complainant and robbed him of a Honda Fit vehicle registration number AFD 8145, a cellphone and US$100 cash.
On 6th November 2022 at around 0200 hours, a 45-year-old man had an altercation with five men who were in a BMW car at Cosmopolitan Race Course, Ascot, Bulawayo.
He then parked his Honda Fit vehicle registration number AFO 5439 and charged towards the BMW vehicle leaving his car keys on the ignition port.
An unknown suspect came and stole the car and drove off while the complainant was confronting the five men in a BMW vehicle.
In another case, Police are investigating a case of theft of a motor vehicle that occurred on 4th November 2022 at a car park in Warren Park, Harare, where a woman (30) had left a Toyota Wish vehicle registration number AEL 2656 for safekeeping. The complainant came back the next morning and found the car missing.
Meanwhile, on 5th November 2022, Police in Chinhoyi arrested Jealous Thomas Musariri (43) in connection with two counts of murder that occurred at Riverside, Chinhoyi on 29th September 2022.
The suspect allegedly stabbed Tinashe Nyanguwo (36) and Joshua Kadungure (37) to death, after a misunderstanding.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police urges motorists to be alert and stop giving lifts to strangers in their vehicles no matter the circumstances or situation.

Three gardeners employed at Manna Resort in Harare are facing theft allegations following a fire incident at the lodge on 1 November.
The three men allegedly took advantage of the incident to steal US$2 500 cash from Netty Musasa’s office.
Zacharia Phiri, Richman Kamusasa and Simon Vhiya are expected to appear at the Harare Magistrates Court charged with theft.
According to a statement issued Manna Resort CEO on 2 November 2022, part of the Manna Resorts complex was struck by lightning which resulted in a fire.

A Zimbabwean teacher was arrested recently for complaining about the poor salaries paid by the government to civil servants.

Teacher Arrested For Posting WhatsApp Message Complaining About Poor Salaries

A brick company was robbed of over US$25 000 cash in broad daylight on Saturday by robbers who pretended to be potential buyers.
A police report seen by Pindula News says the robbers who were armed with pistols also got away with six cell phones. Reads the statement:

The ZRP is investigating a robbery case which occurred at a brick company in Mazowe on 05/11/22 at around 1200 hours. Three unknown suspects, who were using an unregistered silver Honda Fit Hybrid vehicle, posed as genuine customers who intended to buy 60 000 bricks at the company. 
The trio was referred to the general manager’s office as they were negotiating for a discount. While in the general manager’s office, they withdrew two unidentified pistols and ordered everyone to lie down while demanding safe keys.
They stole US$ 25 340-00 and six cell phones before locking the six company employees in the company offices and speeding off in their getaway car.

Brick Company Robbed Of Over US$25K Cash In Broad Daylight

A  20-year-old man from Godlwayo Village 3 in Esigodini District, Matabeleland South province has been arrested for allegedly having sex with a goat which reportedly died during the act, apparently of exhaustion.
Mthandazo Ndlovu allegedly raped Brighton Nkomo’s goat to death before he was also caught red-handed romping with Luckson Mkandla’s goat, according to <a href="https://www.bmetro.co.zw/sex-starved-man-rapes-goat-to-death/">B-Metro</a>.
Both Nkomo and Mkandla are from Ntabende Village in Esigodini.
What happened:
It is alleged that on 28 October 2022 and at around 10 pm Ndlovu went to Nkomo’s homestead and raped one of his female goats and the goat died during the act.
The following morning, Nkomo went to the goat pen and found one of his female goats lying unconscious. Upon checking it, Nkomo found it dead with some semen on its rear.
Nkomo reportedly tracked a trail of footprints from the goat pen and they led him to Ndlovu’s place.
On 31 October 2022 around 3 am, Ndlovu went to Mkandla’s homestead and raped a female goat.
During the act, the goat bleated continuously waking Mkandla who went to the pen to see what was happening.
Upon arrival, Mkandla flashed his torch and saw Ndlovu having sex with his goat which was lying on its back.
Ndlovu, who was employed at Phat-Ore Mine, fled naked leaving behind his clothes in the goat pen.
Mkandla went and reported the matter to the police leading to his arrest.
Ndlovu is expected to appear before the Esigodini resident magistrate charged with two counts of bestiality as defined in Section 74 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.
His clothes which he left in Mkandla’s goat pen are also expected to be used as an exhibit.

A 20-year-old Man Rapes A Goat To Death

A Bulawayo-based police officer has been detained for allegedly defrauding desperate passport hopefuls out of US$440 and R600.
Sergeant Prosper Madzokera (36) assigned to the Bulawayo Central Police Station allegedly targeted those seeking passports from outside of Bulawayo.
Madzokera used his ZRP outfit to fool passport hopefuls, telling them that they had to believe him since he was a police officer, according to a source at the Bulawayo registrar’s office.
Madzokera would arrive at the registrar’s offices early in the morning and wait at the entrance for desperate passport hopefuls “mainly those people who would have come from the rural areas.”
One of the victims who identified himself as Dube from Lupane said Madzokera asked him to pay some money for assistance. He told <a href="https://www.bmetro.co.zw/cop-arrested-for-duping-desperate-passport-seekers/">B-Metro</a>:

I arrived at the registrar’s office at around 6.30am last Tuesday and the queue was already long. While I was standing by the gate Madzokera came to me and told me he could assist me by getting my passport processed quickly.
He said that I had to give him US$120 and R200 which he said was for processing. I gave him that amount and he disappeared.

Another victim who also identified himself as Joel from Ascot Extension in Gweru said Madzokera approached him while he was in the queue to submit his passport application forms and said he could quickly process the passport for him.
He then demanded US$130 and R200 which he said was for administration and Joel allegedly gave him.
Madzokera promised to give Joel a receipt after an hour but he never returned prompting the victim to report the matter at Bulawayo Central Police Station.
Another victim who requested not to be named said he paid Madzokera US$130 and R200 which he said accompanied the application.
Madzokera allegedly returned and demanded US$50 which he said was for urgent processing of the passport. The accused never came back.
Madzokera is expected to appear in court soon facing fraud charges.

A Toyota Hilux GD6 that was stolen from Botswana was found parked at a homestead in Mbambanyika Village in Mphoengs in Plumtree.
Police in Plumtree have launched a manhunt for three suspects who outpaced a team of investigating officers and disappeared into a thicket after stealing the vehicle with P6 000 in Botswana’s Francistown.
The vehicle was left parked at an unsuspecting villager’s homestead saying it had run out of fuel, according to <a href="https://www.sundaynews.co.zw/stolen-botswana-vehicle-dumped-at-plumtree-homestead/">The Sunday News</a>. 
The three suspects have been identified as Kwanele Phuti, Prince Dube and Austin Gumbo. 
They smuggled the Toyota Hilux GD6, 2.4 litres single-cab vehicle into Zimbabwe through the Ngwanyana area which is an illegal crossing point.
What happened:
Police say they received information on 31 October and around 6 am from Matsikoje Police Station in Botswana, that the vehicle had been stolen from a vehicle spare parts shop in Francistown in Botswana.
Botswana police also said the tracker was indicating that the vehicle had crossed into Zimbabwe through the Ngwanyana area, Madabe, Plumtree.
The vehicle had money amounting to P6 000, spare parts of another motor vehicle, a small air compressor and three car batteries. 
A team comprising Zimbabwean police officers and Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) officers was then deployed at Mphoengs Border Post to make follow-ups along Mphoengs-Plumtree and with the help of four Botswana police officers.
The team tracked the vehicle to where it was parked at Eunice Moyo’s homestand in Mbambanyika, Mphoengs.
They found two men who worked at the homestead who they interrogated on who had brought the vehicle to the homestead where they were told that Phuti and his colleagues had left the vehicle.
They pursued the suspects up to Mkgambo Business Centre.
When the suspects realised that they were being pursued, they disembarked from the vehicle they were travelling in and fled into the bush where they outpaced the officers.

The father (29) of the <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/a-9-year-old-pregnant-girl-admitted-to-ubh/">9-year-old pregnant girl</a> was arrested on 29 August 2022 when it was discovered that the minor was pregnant and is assisting police with investigations. 
He allegedly told his daughter that “goblins will visit her at night and insert something in her private parts.”
The goblins that the father forewarned his daughter about, are alleged to have visited the nine-year-old only on nights that her mother was away from home and was left in the care of her father. 
The mother told <a href="https://www.sundaynews.co.zw/mother-of-pregnant-9-year-old-opens-up/">The Sunday News</a> that what pains her most was that her daughter was not aware that she is pregnant, but believes she is suffering from some stomach ailment. 
In an exclusive interview with Sunday News in Bulawayo on Friday, the girl’s mother (26) revealed that her daughter started her monthly menstrual cycle when she was just seven years old in 2020. She said:

She does not know what is wrong with her, that she is pregnant. The last time I saw her she asked me if I would take her home once she heals from her sickness, as that is what she knows. I started to see her menstruating in 2020 she was seven years old then and I took her to the clinic to find out what the cause could have been. They told me that it was possible for her to menstruate early owing to the foods children eat nowadays. We returned home, and then this year (August), I noticed that her stomach was swelling and took her to the hospital once more and there it was discovered that she was pregnant. I was not expecting that she could be pregnant because it is actually a shock and something foreign to us that a nine-year-old child can fall pregnant.

The mother said her daughter has not yet spoken about what happened to her. 
The girl was attending school from the beginning of this year but sometimes would not get to school and would return home and say she was chased away from school, the mother added.
The girl who is 33 weeks pregnant is at United Bulawayo Hospitals where she is being monitored.
