Doctors who had resumed work at United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) have announced that they are withdrawing their services .
This comes after Government announced that doctors who have been on strike since December last year had returned to work. The Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors Association (ZHDA) said they resolved to withdraw their services after the Ministry of Health and Child Care moved to execute disciplinary hearings on its members. The doctors say they had returned to work because they were made to believe no disciplinary hearings will be conducted against their members.

RE: WITHDRAWAL OF SERVICES BY DOCTORS WHO HAD RESUMED WORK AT UNITED BULAWAYO HOSPITALS.
We refer to the above matter.
We here by notify your office(s) of our intention as UBH doctors to withdraw our services after noticing among other reasons, our displeasure on the move by the MOHCC to execute hearing procedures on the membership
Furthermore, the following has proven to be imperative before we reconsider our position to discharge our services in the institutions
The general consensus is there should be no hearing or disciplinary proceedings done on our members
2) The grievances previously raised to the effect, that the are no medications in the hospital and the equipment is a non-functional have not been addressed.
3) We have not been paid our salaries since rnid-Novernber and it is now almost mid-January and we are incapacitated to continue reporting to work. We will wait for a formal communication from ZHDA communique to resume normal service delivery.
It is regrettable to find ourselves taking this hard decision and we hope the above matters will be addressed as a matter of emergency.
