There Can’t Be A President And Acting President At The Same Time – Says Legal Expert

Zimbabwean-born constitutional law expert and lecturer at Kent University in the United Kingdom, Alex Magaisa said that it is unconstitutional to have a President and an Acting President at the same time.

Magaisa was responding to a report in today’s State-owned publications, The Herald and The Chronicle. The report reads as follows:

And in any event, the style has always been that the Acting President consults with the substantive President. Now in this particular case, we have a serious situation in the health sector involving lives and naturally, the President has to demonstrate concern and that concern comes by way of cutting short his leave in order to work closely with the Acting President so that consultations are short-circuited.
