Mnangagwa Moves Chiwenga From Overseeing Defence Ministry

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has withdrew Vice President Constantino Chiwenga from his oversight role of the Ministry of Defence and War Veterans.

Mnangagwa reassigned the former Zimbabwe Defence Forces commander to exercise oversight in “procurement and research”. The announcement was made in a Government Gazette on Friday in Statutory Instrument 214 of 2018. View the Gazette below:

Journos are not well read or educated…Chiwengwa was appointed as VP&Min of Defence after the November 2017 removal of RG….After elections Mai Muchinguri was appointed as MIn of Defence so the SI that had assigned Gen Chwenga as Min of Defence had to be repealed…ED is just following the law….it is not about factions or whatever….In 2013 ED was moved from Defence to Justice and people claimed he had been demoted only for ED to become VP less tht 18 months later…Our journos in zim are captured and clueless
