Convicted Rapist Escapes From Court Cells After Being Sentenced To 15 Years

Emmanuel Sibanda (26) is reported to have been escaped from the custody of prison officials at the Harare Magistrate’s Court after he was sentenced to 15 years in jail. Sibanda who is a tout was convicted of raping a 40-year old passenger by Harare Magistrate, Morgan Nemadire. However, he somehow disappeared from custody after he was handed over to the officer in charge of cells despite the fact that he was wearing khaki prison uniforms. Speaking to New Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Elizabeth Banda,

Emanuel Sibanda, a convicted male inmate escaped from lawful custody at Harare Magistrates Court on Monday 10 September 2018. It was observed at 1300hrs that the inmate was missing following a routine body check. We can only comment once the investigations are completed. Efforts are being made to bring back the inmate into lawful custody.

This has since been reported to the relevant authorities (ZRP). The ZPCS encourages anyone with information on the whereabouts of Emmanuel Sibanda to contact the Public Relations office on +263 2 706501 – 4 or the nearest police station. The ZPCS continues to uphold high correctional standards.

  1. The corruption introduced by mugabe regime hasn’t gone away. Somebody knows what happened to this prisoner. Corruption among the officers there. If these officers are this corrupt, then they should all go. We need corruption free Zimbabwe in the 21st century.
