Addressing mourners gathered at their Blue Roof residence to pay their condolence following the death of former First Lady Grace Mugabe’s mother, Idah Marufu, former President Robert Mugabe urged Zimbabweans to rally behind President Mnangagwa, saying his election victory legitimised his leadership.
Mugabe said the elections legitimised Mnangagwa who came into power in November last year through a military intervention named Operation Restore Legacy. Said Mugabe:
There was an election, Zanu-PF was represented by Emmerson Mnangagwa and (Nelson) Chamisa represented MDC Alliance and results came out saying the person who won was Emmerson Mnangagwa and I said now it’s clear. You can’t dispute it. It is now clear. What had been in dispute has corrected through the election results. We have accepted the result and we hope that we will continue respecting the will of the people. The gun does not and should not lead politics. All of us are now duty bound to rally behind the Government. But we say those who want to contest should be allowed to do so and after every five years, but we say for now the person who won is Mr Mnangagwa.

Am not sure if this is the right time to ask about this, whilst I appreciate the gesture by the presidency in assisting Grace with a private flight to attend her mother’s funeral, however, am I the only one with the following questions:
1. Could Grace not afford the price of a flight back home on her own?
2. The money used to pay for the charter. For as long as it was government funds, then we the masses paid for that flight, she shld be thanking us.
Now that the former president has endorsed ED its time for every one to move on and unity in peace and harmony to build our new Zimbabwe
It seems Mugabe have accepted reality and is eager to move on from his bitterness. Past is past and the nation should move on and if he want to be a gentleman he should surrender some of the farms and remain with only one farm. I think Chamisa will also swallow his pride and accept defeat.
