The Cold Storage Commission (CSC) has said that it will be introducing at least five new products into the local and export markets. A CSC exhibitor at the Harare Agricultural Show revealed,
The new products are ox-tongue tinned, stewed steak meadows, corned beef; these are being produced form beef which is coming from the CSC livestock. We also have other cattle by-products like tail hairs which can be used to manufacture brushes and cow horns which can be used for buttons and ornaments as well as tallow fat which is used for soap making.
The CSC was once one of Zimbabwe’s biggest meat companies but has been struggling financially of late. The new products are part of the company’s resuscitation efforts.
