MDC Alliance Supporters Celebrate “Victory” At Party Headquarters, No Official Announcement From Zec

MDC Alliance supporters are reported to be celebrating at the MDC-T headquarters at Morgan Tsvangirai House (former Harvest House) after Tendai Biti claimed that they had won the harmonised elections. The supporters said that they were celebrating Nelson Chamisa’s victory over incumbent President Emmerson Mnangagwa. The supporters are saying that they are now awaiting the official announcement of the results by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec). Businesses near the MDC headquarters have closed early as owners fear a reaction from the authorities as under the Electoral Act it is illegal for anyone except Zec to announce the results of an election. Zec is yet to release any official results.
